DRESS CODE FOR RALLIES
Wheatland Hunt black sweatshirt (or riding jacket – see below*)
Smart white shirt with a Pony Club tie (over 18’s see below**)
Jodhpurs should be plain beige/cream (optional white for dressage)
Gloves – black, brown, beige/cream (optional white for dressage) - must be worn at all rallies EXCEPT for Mounted Games.
Plain black or brown jodhpur boots or long riding boots.
Note – jodhpur boots should be worn with either with jodhpur clips (or elastic underneath) or half chaps/gaiters to match your boot colour – no tassels or fringes
Long hair MUST be tied up neatly above the collar and in a hair net. Hair nets may be secured with a Pony Club Scrunchie to match your tie (or to match stock for over 18’s)
Jewellery is not allowed for safety reasons, other than a wristwatch, a wedding ring, a stock pin worn horizontally or a tie clip. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT STOCK PINS ARE REMOVED FOR CROSS COUNTRY.
Riding Hats or skull caps should be black (but plain blue or brown will be allowed) and of current safety standard. For the current safety standards please refer to the Pony Club website Pony Club Hat Rules 2017.
Hat covers should be plain black (unless at a cross country or racing rally)
NOTE: FIXED PEAKS NOT ALLOWED FOR CROSS COUNTRY, RACING OR MOUNTED GAMES
Hats must be worn at all times when mounted, with the straps securely fastened (and should be worn at prize giving too). Hats should be replaced after a serious fall. Buying a second-hand hat is not recommended – you do not know its history.
PLEASE ENSURE YOUR HAT MEETS CURRENT STANDARDS AND IS TAGGED – Dawn Moreton is able to tag hats for our members so please contact her when you purchase a new hat so that it can be tagged BEFORE your next PC event.
Body Protectors are compulsory for all cross-country riding and Pony Racing whether it be training or competing. Please refer to Pony Club Body Protector Rule 2017
Spurs may be worn at Rallies and other events ONLY if you have your B test OR with the written permission of the District Commissioner. Only blunt spursmay be worn and if curved, the curve must be downwards
For Training sessions, Stable Management and Camps - at the discretion of the organiser - branch polo shirts may be worn with plain dark navy or black jodhpurs.
For Cross Country/Arena Eventing - The Wheatland XC team colours are black and gold, but branch sweatshirts or your own cross country colours may be worn – body protector MUST be worn – also no fixed peaks!
For competitions – please contact team managers if you are unsure what to wear for competitions. Further information on turnout for competitions can be found in the relevant pony club rule books on the PC website.
PLEASE NOTE:
Hats must be worn at all times when mounted – and suitable footwear must also be worn when on or around horses.
The Pony Club badge (or logo) should be worn for all Pony Club activities (for insurance purposes)
Long sleeves compulsory for cross country – long or ¾ sleeves recommended for all other activities
NO HOODIES TO BE WORN WHEN MOUNTED – AND NO BLING PLEASE ON YOU OR YOUR HORSE!!
Please ensure all tack is in good clean condition with no faulty stitching and all ponies are neat and tidily turned out please
PLEASE NOTE - Stirrups should be of the correct size to suit the rider’s boots. They must have 7mm (1/4”) clearance on either side of the boot.
Branch saddlecloths preferred – although plain black (or white for dressage) will be permitted.
*If preferred a show jacket may be worn in place of the club sweatshirt - Jackets should be tweed or navy blue with the Pony Club badge on the left lapel, positioned (for safety) 4cms below the collar bone. Coloured felts, to be worn under the badge, must be appropriate to the test level taken.
**For members aged 18 or over, if they prefer, a collarless riding shirt may be worn with either the pony club stock or a white one in place of the white shirt and pony club tie.
