Comparative Civilizations 12: Mythologies of the World Presentation Assignment
Mission: to provide a presentation to the class based upon a world mythology selected from a list
of the world mythologies (on reverse side) Each group does a different world mythology.
• The Presentation consists of two challenges:
Challenge#1: To provide a mini-lesson presentation to the class giving an overview of your mythology by summarizing the main points and providing insight into some of the interesting aspects of your world mythology.
Methods: a) Old School: Overhead Projector and transparencies.
b) New School: Power Point presentation or Prezi presentation
Question: What do we discuss?
Answer: some of the headings which you could focus on when researching your
mythology are:
- Name, location, time period
- Origin of stories and/or creation myths
- Key features or common theme of myths
- Important characters that reappear or are most significant
- Most interesting and/or strangest information we discovered
Question: Other than the classroom presentation of the overview, what paperwork
do we provide to the instructor?
Answer: a one page (two sided maximum length) word processed outline of your
mythology with headings and point form details PLUS a bibliography.
OR if you do a power point, you may print out the slides onto paper but
make sure you remember to include a bibliography and eliminate the pictures, just
include the script in the print-out.
Challenge #2: To select one myth from your world mythology that you found either
interesting, humorous or bizarre and to provide a creative presentation of
the story of your myth.
Question: What methods can we use to provide our creative myth presentation?
Answer: Here are a number of methods that have been successfully done in the past:
