I maintain stocks of nails and screws for the store and maintain displays. I assemble all received items for display and sale. I provide research for unusual building supplies as requested by customers. I help to maintain the in store computers. I provide computer training for co-workers.

Shepard Patterson/Veridyne Inc. Newport News, VA 1999-2003

As a Provisioner, I identified spare parts required to support Hagglund cranes and other shipboard equipment on ships under contract with the Maritime Administration. Responsible for research of technical references and data entry into a shipboard database. Provided digital photography to enhance the provisioning process. Worked with two versions of PC-SAL software at the same time. Provided Beta testing of software and trained co-workers in the use of the programs.

John J. McMullen, Assoc. Newport News, VA, 1990-1999

As a Senior Computer Analyst I preformed all maintenance, upgrades and repairs on over 100 workstations consisting of PC’s with printers and CD-ROM drives. I developed a process for transferring a program from multiple CD-ROM’s to network hard drives, resulting in faster access for more users. I also trained users in a process to cut data entry in half by migrating data between a database text for use in a work processing application. Provided training to Navy reserves in the use of Hazardous Materials Information System and how to access Material Data Safety Sheets for supplies used in workspaces.

John J. McMullen, Assoc. Arlington, VA, 1985-1990

As a Senior Engineering Technician/Senior Logistician I researched various types of equipment and their components. Developed procurement specification packages under the DAR 6 Breakout Program. Provided research for “Chemical, Biological, Radiological Handbook” for NAVSEA code 55x25, including equipment identification and stowage requirements for protective clothing and test equipment. Developed an extensive cross-reference database for centrifugal pumps for NAVSEA Code 56Y21.

Newport News Shipbuilding Newport News, VA, 1981-1985

As a Logistics Analyst I preformed duties of provisioning of SSN 688 Class Submarines and the upkeep of associated Coordinated Shipboard Allowance List. Duties included research of technical references and drawings, development of required documentation and modification of published shipboard allowance list.

U. S. Navy, 1972-1980

As a Storekeeper I served as a member of the Supply Inspection Team for Commander Mine Squadron 12. I was also responsible for setting up and operating a supply warehouse and technical library for support of the Ocean Mine Sweeper fleet. Served as acting Supply Officer for Commander Mine Division 125 for the Solid Shield exercise of 1980. Served as a member of a security inspection team to test security of a ship in Charleston, SC. I assisted in the turn over of Mine Sweeper Craft to the Saudi Navy. Managed a Ready Supply Store and served as Military Customs Inspector (1976-1978) in support of the Naval Communications Station, Thurso, Scotland. Managed storage for Level I/Subsafe equipment and raw materials on board two Naval ships. I maintained storerooms including receipt, stowage, stock control, inventory management and issue of parts. Preformed military guard duties including fire fighting and rescue team member, security guard duty, fire truck/sand truck duties.

U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy Reserves

1981-1999

Provided Forklift instruction for Fleet Industrial Supply Center reserve personnel. Automated the supply department for a Navy activity in Hawaii in less than two weeks. Acquired excess equipment from military installations through out Europe, mainly rolling stock, and redistribute this material to various commands that have expressed a desire for the hardware. Served with the Cargo Handling Battalion 10, Williamsburg, VA. Duties included cargo-handling operations both on shore (as a documenter and forklift operator) and shipboard (as a hold boss/yard and stay winch operator). Developed a reference list, which was used in documentation for future training and implementation of distribution systems for the U.S. Army reserves. Assisted in the relocation of the base warehouse facility and the implementation of the LOGMAR system used to barcode material and warehouse locations for the U.S. Air Force Reserves at Langley AFB. Retired in the Navy Reserves with 26 years of combined military service.
