REGULATIONS

OF WORLD UNDER 20 JUNIORS & GIRLS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2006

1. Dates & venue

The championships will be held from October 2 (arrival day) to 17 (departure day) at the T. Petrosian Chess House in Yerevan, Armenia.

2. Playing System

The championships will be played in 13 rounds, Swiss System, in accordance with FIDE regulations.

4. Age of participants

According to FIDE regulations, entitled to participate are chess players born on and after January 1, 1986.

5. Participants

Entitled to participate are:

a)Players placed 1-3 in the previous World U-20 Juniors & Girls Championships;

b)Continental U-20 champions;

c)Top six juniors and top four girls from the FIDE International Rating List;

d)World U-18 and U-16 present champions;

e)One junior and one girl player from each national federation.

In case of necessity the hosting federation can present a second player.

If a national federation wishes to present additional players, besides main ones qualified by normal way or personal right, it should contact the Organizing Committee. A player can participate at the championship only after receiving an official consent from the Organizing Committee.

6. Entry fee

According to FIDE regulations, the entry fee is 70 Euro for each main player and 140 Euro for each additional player. The fees shall be transferred to the FIDE bank account.

7. Travel expenses

According to FIDE regulations, the participating federations shall cover the travel expenses of all players.

8. Board and lodging

The participants will stay at the Ani Plaza Hotel.

The main players will be provided with free accommodation (at double rooms) and meal (three times a day) starting from October 2 (dinner) till October 17 (breakfast), 2006.

Those wishing to stay at a single room shall pay 30 Euro per day.

Each additional player and accompanying person shall pay 50 Euro per day for a double and 80 Euro for a single room accommodation plus three-time meal a day.

9. Registration fee

Each participant and accompanying person shall pay 100 Euro as registration fee. In return they will be provided with transportation services from airport to hotel and back, accreditation, badge, excursion and daily bulletin.

10. Way of payment

All payments (board and lodging, registration fee) shall be transferred to the bank account of the Armenian Chess Federation in Euro:

The deadline to payments is August 2, 2006.

11. Entry visa

For getting an Armenian entry visa please contact the Organizing Committee before August 2, 2006.

12. Air tax

Please note that when leaving Yerevan all passengers will be charged air tax which makes 10.000 AMD (approximately 18.4 Euro as per currency exchange rate of May 3, 2006).

13. Prizes

Players placed first, second and third will be awarded respectively with gold, silver and bronze medals.

In case of a tie the winner will be decided in accordance with FIDE regulations (D.VI.01., 14 a, b).

Prizes (gifts) will be awarded to players who take the first ten places in each tournament (juniors and girls).

14. Deadline for applications

Chess players can participate in the championships provided an official application (the form available soon) is made by his/her national federation. The application forms shall reach the Organizing Committee by fax or email before August 2, 2006.

15. Organizing Committee
