Reports To: Director of Mountain Operations

Overview of Position:The Patrol Director is a year round position that is in charge of all patrol operations on the hill or anywhere else at the resort. The Director plays a key role in supervising patrollers in all aspects of winter / summer patrolling operations including the Downhill Mountain Bike Park. This includes opening and closing the mountain, responding to incidents, administering first aid and working with other departments as needed.

Job Qualifications:

Must be an expert skier or snowboarder.

Must have significant Ski Patrol experience and ability.

Must have current ski patrol credentials.

Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Must have strong teaching skills.

Must have excellent supervisory, management and organizational skills.

Job Duties: The list below best represents many tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your employment here at Windham Mountain Resort. We cannot predict all the challenges that we many face in providing the product our guests expect. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, rules and regulations regarding skier / bike safety at Windham Mountain Resort.

Ensure compliance with all relevant trail marking and signage requirements on a daily basis.

Ensure ongoing compliance with all reporting procedures.

Manage the daily operations of the Ski / BikePatrol including supervising staff in:

  • Trail Opening
  • Duty Assignments
  • Staffing and Maintenance of Summit and Base area Patrol facilities
  • Trail Checks
  • Forms and reports
  • Proper emergency medical care
  • Proper sled and rescue procedures
  • Training
  • Care of supplies and equipment

Assist in recruiting professional and volunteer patrollers.

Interview potential candidates and verify their skills, attitude and ability.

Assist in the supervision of all Patrol Supervisors and staff.

Oversee testing of all new patrollers.

Coordinate with Windham Mountain Resort departments including Snow Sports, Mountain Operations, Lifts, and others as needed.

Maintain a high quality, well trained, motivated, customer service oriented Patrol Department

Work Schedule and Conditions: We are in the business of providing a quality product and experience for our guests. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holiday periods which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods.

We will attempt to offer consecutive days off and accommodate special scheduling requests, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to satisfy all requests. We expect employees to arrive promptly.

Dress Code:

Name Tag must always be worn – no exceptions.

Business casual for administration staff

Uniform issued depending on job need
