SOLEMNITY OF THE
IMMACULATECONCEPTION
We will celebrate two Masses for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, December 8 at 9 a.m. at the school and at 5:30 p.m. in the Church.
ADVENT PRAYER SERVICES
There will be a Penance Service at St. Anthony Parish on Sunday, December 7 at 2 p.m. Everyone will have an opportunity for confession. There is also another opportunity to attend an upcoming Penance Service on Sunday,December 14 at 3 p.m. at St. Michael Parish in Exeter.It is a wonderful way to celebrate Advent and prepare ourselves for the birth of our Savior.
FAIR RESULTS
The Gross income for this year’s Parish and School Fair was $36,649.72. We had a total of $9.606.19 for expenses which gave us a net income of $27,043.53. I wish to express my gratitude to James Kenney and Nick Eremita who assisted me in chairing this year’s Fair, along with all the committee chairpersons, Fair committee, teachers and parents of St. Catherine School, Knights, scouts and students. Thanks to all of our parishioners and friends who contributed the gift items for all of our various tables. ~ Fr. Paul

GIVING TREE
Those who took a Christmas tag from the Giving Tree are asked to return the wrapped giftwith the tag attached to it on the weekend of December 13/14, in order to make distributing easier. These gifts are meant to be given to Our Place-a counseling, prenatal and child care education service co-sponsored by Catholic Charities. Other gifts are designated for Seniors from St. Joseph Community Services. Your generosity was overwhelming in past years.
CHURCH BELL AND ITS HISTORY
Henry Northey Hooper was a preeminent 19th century American manufacturer and merchant of decorative lighting, Civil War artillery, and bells and chimes. He was a Boston politician and foundry owner and in his firm he cast the first life-size bronze statue in the United States. Born in Manchester, Massachusetts, he descended from a line of Northey silversmiths of Salem, Gloucester, and Manchester, MA, and the Hooper family of ship masters. He was an apprentice of Paul Revere in the latter’s Boston foundry. He later purchased the foundry and established Henry N. Hooper & Co, to produce lamps and lighting fixtures, bells and by 1862, artillery for the Union Army. His Boston foundry yard, the scene of construction of chimes for Christ Church in Cambridge, MA, was featured in a sketch by Winslow Homer for Harper’s Weekly in 1860. Today, his bells are still found in churches, court houses, and universities, mainly in New England.The bell in our tower dates back to 1855. It was installed at St Ann Church in Manchester until the church’s closure. It has been in storage at Cote Riggins in Goffstown, NH. I am especially thankful to the Cote family for all of their assistance in installing this 3,500 pound bell.
ADOPTING A FAMILY AT CHRISTMAS
In an effort to meet the truly desperate need for some of the many area families, Catholic Charities offers the Christmas Connections program. Our parish has been given select families to help provide new winter clothing. If your family, co-workers, or friends would like to help adopt a family, contact the rectory or see Fr. Paul.

WOMEN OF MARY / MEN OF ST. JOSEPH
The Women of Mary meet on the 1st Saturday of each month in the school cafeteria. The Men of St. Joseph meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 8-10 a.m. in the school cafeteria. Each meeting includesMass, a recitation of the Rosary,full breakfast, and a special guest speaker. You are warmly invited to join us for these spiritually enriching mini retreats.
CALLING ALL WOMEN
The St. Catherine’s Women’s Group is looking for you! We have been re-invented and would love to have your input as we grow our organization. Weare 32 members, and we have room for many more. Could that be you? Have you ever looked around the church and wished you had a friend to talk with after Mass? Want to get out of the house for a couple of hours each month and enjoy social time as well as helping others through works? Whatever your reason may be, feel free to join us. Ages range from young mothers to mature individuals. Everyone is welcome to join us on the second Tuesday of the month in the basement of the school. We socialize (do a lot of chatter while eating snacks) from 6:30 to 7 p.m. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and typically ends around8 p.m. We want to shake things up a bit and would love your ideas and enthusiasm. Please note that the December meeting will be offsite for a holiday gathering so please join us in January.

If you like to sing, come join our group. The St. Catherine of Siena Parish Junior Choir is open to boys and girls in Grades 2 to 7. Trinity High School Student Council will present a “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday, December 13 from 8- 11 a.m. in the Trinity High School cafeteria.
