Dear candidate

Health Partnership Coordinator

Thank you very much for your interest in the role of Health Partnership Coordinator. This is an exciting role at a key moment for integrating health and housing. The National Housing Federation is running a unique strategic partnership with the Department of Health, to foster joint working between health and housing.

There is a renewed imperative for housing providers and their health partners to work together to improve people’s health and keep them out of hospital when they don’t need to be. Housing plays a major role in good health, through warm dry homes, good quality green space, as well as through specialist housing and support for older people, people with mental health problems and people with learning disabilities. In this job, you will help make sure that this role is understood by the health sector and that its potential is realised.

As one of two coordinators working on this ground-breaking partnership, you will have the opportunity to help raise awareness within the health service of the major role that housing plays in improving people’s health. You will also be building a clear picture of the evidence available of the contribution made by housing organisations to health outcomes. This will need you to take a proactive approach to taking the housing sector message to our health partners. This means you will be involved in writing briefings and reports, and taking a lead identifying key audiences and organising events. You will need to have an understanding of research methodologies and the ability to understand and articulate the product of the programme’s research work.

You will be responsible for coordinating the work of colleagues and contracted staff and ensuring the delivery of the partnership’s agreed programme. To do this, you will be a point of liaison for our key stakeholders at Public Health England and Department of Health; reporting successes, explaining findings, and securing support for the programme’s outputs.

This is a varied role with plenty of scope for putting your mark onto the health and housing agenda. We are looking for someone with knowledge of health policy, and a real passion for housing issues. If you have a talent for project coordination, the ability to commission and interpret research, and the skills to make a clear case to a range of audiences, we would love to hear from you.

Best wishes

Emily Bird
