MSNA Board Meeting Minutes

New Members: There were applications received for 2 new members

Upcoming events:Next MSNA Board meeting Monday March 14th 2016

Next MSNA general meeting Monday January 25th 2016. There will be a guest speaker from the Blood Center of WI.

Community Event: Shannon reported that the donations were very well received by the organization in Marshfield the Soup & Socks organization they were very happy and thankful for the items.

NSNA Convention:There was an additional application that was received to be able to attend the conference and it was approved. It was decided that MSNA will reimburse up to the total of $1500.00. Deb Johnson-Shuh will be attending the convention since a staff member is required to be present. There is a required waiver and emergency form that needs to be completed and turned in to Tammy by 2-1-16 at 4pm.

New Business: Shannon did pay for the flowers and picked them up for the December graduates for the pinning ceremony, the total amount paid for flowers was $63.30.

  • The 50/50 raffle tickets were given out and selling can begin immediately. We are allowed to sell a total of 500 tickets. The drawing will be at the ATI event on February 10th at 5:00pm you do not need to be present to win. We will need to email or text Kari-Anne regularly to stay on top of the numbers so we don’t go over the 500, any money you have collected can be given to Tammy or turned in to Dawn Baker. Tammy will advertise the raffle on the kiosk for students and staff.

Upcoming Events: ATI Success night February 10th 2016 5:00pm in the Gymnasium. This will take the place of the February general MSNA meeting. This will be a very information event on navigating through the ATI site, and how to utilize the site and books from ATI.

Nursing Olympics: Thursday January 28th from 12-1. Volunteers are needed to help set up the event on Wednesday January 27th after class and also to help with the event on the 28th to talk to new members, collect membership fee’s and take information on what sizes and quantities for a new t-shirt order to be placed, which was approved by the board.

Blood Drive: Monday February 1st 9-2, Tammyposted information on BB, tent cards have been placed around campus. We will need to get volunteers to work at the event and to get sign-ups for donors. Kari-Anne proposed a challenge to get as many donors as possible so we can beat the Corrections department as far as total donations of blood.

Proposals: Discussion was made about getting fewer giveaways but more value to the items we give away some examples were:

NCLEX study books, clip boards and gas cards. Also brought up was to giveaway the laminated lab value cards to attendees of the meetings because they are helpful for clinicals.

There was discussion of having a new MSNA membership card designed to give to members when they join and can use to present to verify membership.

Kari-Anne is going to try to track down the HR person from Ministry that she heard speak at last year’s convention in Wisconsin Dells to see if this person could be a guest speaker for our March meeting.
