It’s that time of the year again…Homecoming 2006! The Student Organization Advisory Board, Campus Activities Board, and theStudentDevelopmentCenter are pleased to invite student organizations/UTEP Departments to join us in this year’s Homecoming Week Activities which are sure to be full of fun and excitement. - All Homecoming registration forms(page 22) must be turned in byWednesday, October 25th, 2006by 5:00 p.m. No late entries will be accepted.Please return registration forms to Erika Anchondo or Luis Trejo in the StudentDevelopmentCenter (SDC) at 106 Union West.
- Only registered student organizations\UTEP Departments are allowed to participate.
- All student organizations registration packetseither new or renewal must be turned in to the SDCby October 6, 2006.
- Organizations can still register between October 7 – 20 , 2006, but must pay a $30.00 fine.
- Organizations must fill out the Homecoming registration form in its entirety and check off all the events, in which they are going to participate in.
- If your organization selects an event and fails to show up to the event, the organization will be deducted15 points from their total score.
- No application will be processed without the $45 entry fee (check only). All checks should be made payable to the Student Development Center (SDC).
- Each packet must contain an organization roster. Please include the following:
- Names as they appear on the new Miner Gold Card.
- Students ID Numbers (800 numbers)
- A photocopy of each participants new Miner Gold Card.
*Copies cannot be made in the StudentDevelopmentCenter or the Women’s ResourceCenter.
- Only members on your organization’s active roster may be included on your Homecoming Roster.
- A team will be disqualified for all Homecoming Activities if there are any un-registered members participating in any of the competitions,except from the community service events: penny wars, canned food drive, and blood drive.
- Participation points will only be granted to those who are on the Homecoming roster. Roster cannot be altered after it has been turned in.
- Alcohol may not be present at any homecoming events. If any participant or member affiliated with the organization/department arrives to an event intoxicated the entire organization will be disqualified and the individual(s) will be referred to Judicial Affairs in the Dean of Students Office.
- Lip Sync participants must submit an edited CD for approvalThursday, October 26th, by 5:00 p.m. to the Student Development Center Office 106 Union West. NOTE: Cassette tapes willnot be accepted.
- Participants are responsible for showing up at events on time. No events will be delayed based on a participants’ tardiness, please be there 10 minutes before the event’s indicated starting time.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. The Student Organization Advisory Board (SOAB), Campus Activities Board (CAB),and the Student Development Center (SDC) reserve the right to disqualify any team for any violations of the rules.
- Point totals will be updated once a day by 5:00 p.m. and displayed on the StudentDevelopmentCenter window.

Each organization will have an assigned container. For every penny* collected yourorganization will receive 1 point.Silver coins and bills will result in a deduction from the total. All monies collected will be given to the Red Cross for the Flood Victims of El Paso.

- Unsportsmanlike conduct will NOT be tolerated and will result in disqualification (e.g. disrespecting Student Development Center Staff or SOAB Executive Board, attempting to remove money from any container, blocking others from placing money into any container, and trying to tip over containers for any reason).

The purpose of the BLOOD DRIVE is to encourage saving lives through blood donation, CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY-WIDE. Organizations have the opportunity to donate blood themselves or have others donate blood in the name of their organization. Organizations should not feel limited because they have smaller membership, as your friends and family can also donate for you!! Here are the rules:
- Each organization will receive 50 assorted flyers to place their organization name on and distribute. Additional copies of your flyers may be made (NOT IN THE SDC) and distributed at the cost of your organization. No limit.
- Organizations may pick up their flyers on Monday, October 30th, 2006 in the StudentDevelopmentCenter after 8:00 a.m.
- United Blood Services (UBS) will have the organization/departmentsign-in sheets for you to sign on AFTER your donation is completed.
- Please respect the UBS Staff at all times, and make sure to thank them for giving us this opportunity.
- Cheating will not be tolerated.
- Any member found breaking any of the rules stated above and/or cheating will cause their team to be disqualified from this event.
- Members MAY NOT hang idle and harass individuals donating-in order to have them donate for your organization/department.

- If you arrive at 2:45 p.m. and there is a line, stick around-the staff may stay for you!
- Individuals donating blood who are not initially donating for organization are going to have the option of just choosing any one organization to support! So your PR is KEY!!
- In order for your organization/department to obtain participation pointsorganizations/departmentsmust have at least 10 people to donate under your organizations/departments name.
- Those 10 people can be the organizations/departmentsown members or others who are donating on their behalf.
- The organizations/departments that gets the most people to donated blood under their organization’s/department’s name will place in first, second and third according.

As Homecoming Week is always fun and competitive, now we have the ability to help out our community as well. This competition is separated into two parts that come together on Thursday, November 2nd. The canned foods will be donated to the Rescue Mission of El Paso.
Part 1
- Each organization will be competing to see which organization can collect the most canned food items by Thursday, November 2nd.
- Only canned food items will be counted toward your team’s total score. Any bagged or boxed items can be donated as well but will not count towards your final amount.
- Each organization is responsible for storing and transporting their own canned food items.
- The top three organizations with the most canned foods will place.
- Organizations must store canned food items until the second part of the event.

Butcher paper for banners will be distributed at 10:00 a.m. in the Union Plaza South. After the competition,banners will be hung at the Union for judging.
- Banners must be completed at the allotted tables in the UnionPlaza. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification for the event.
- Organizations must provide their own materials(i.e. markers, glitter, glue, etc.). Nothing can be borrowed from the StudentDevelopmentCenter or Women’s ResourceCenter.
- Banner requirements:
- Must reflect the Homecoming Theme “Ready to Launch- Texas Style.”
- Must contain the organizations/department’s name.
- Must be able to withstand weight and shape when hung, keep decorations inside the banner.
- All banners must be kept in good taste. Vulgarity, profanity and slander will result in disqualification.

Put your right foot in, take your right foot out… ok we know it’s kind of cheesy, but at least everyone can say that they have danced once in their life. In trying to do something different this year we have added a dance competition.
- Each organization will be allowed 2 participants.
- Each participant will be counted as an individual not as a team. If one member gets eliminated,the organization will have one member left to represent them.
- If an organization has both members in the final round they are eligible to place in two categories.
- The competition will consist of the following rounds:
- Practice Round- here you will learn a dance routine.
- Elimination Round(s) –judged on routine accuracy and creativity.
- The number of elimination rounds is contingent upon number of individuals participating.
- Final Round –here the final three individuals will create their own dance.
- The crowd will be the final judge.

Happy Halloween! You are never too old to dress up and hope you feel the same way. This event will require everyone’s input, but only one representative will have the chance to struttheir stuff in front of the judges.
- Your organization/department will be required to createone costume representing this year’s theme, “Ready to Launch-Texas Style.”
- Participants wearing vulgar/revealing costumes will be disqualified for this event.
- Costumes will be judged on creativity, originality and representation of the theme.

- Each organization will be represented by 2 players.
- A short music clip will play and your team will have20seconds towrite the name of the song and artist on the paper provided.
- Both the name and artist must be written down in order to receive points.
- At the end of 20seconds, answers must be displayed to the judges. If answers are not written down in time no points will be awarded to your organization for that question.
- The team with the most points at the end of 15 music clips wins.
- In the event of a tie a sudden death round will occur. Five shortmusic clips will play. The team that has the most correct answers wins.

- At the end of 15 seconds, answers must be displayed to the judges. If answers are not written down in time no points will be awarded to your organization for that question.
- The team with the most points at the end of 20 questions wins.
- In the event of a tie a sudden death round will occur. Fivequestions will be asked. The team with the most correct answers wins.

It’s that time of the year again… time to listen to those beautiful Miner tunes! This contest will consist of each organization putting on a lip sync show. Our special panel of judges will determine which organization best represents this years theme,“Ready to Launch-Texas Style.”
Rules:
- Deadline to submit your edited CD is Thursday, October 26th by 5:00 p.m. to the Student Development Center 106 Union West.NO TAPES. Your CD must be reviewed by the Homecoming Committee. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- The order of performance will be chosen Friday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m. in the StudentDevelopmentCenter.
- Vulgar language or obscene gestures will not be tolerated and will lead to disqualification. All music with inappropriate words must be edited.
- Teams will have a total of 7 minutes: 1minute to setup, 5 minutes to performand 1minute to clean afterwards.
- If the stage is left a mess your organization will be disqualifiedfrom this event.
- Your Skit must not exceed the 7 minute time limit. If your team goes over time, your organization will be deducted 25points automatically and an additional 10 points per minute. DO NOT GO OVER TIME.
- The first place winner of this competition must perform at the Student Government Association’s Homecoming Pageant Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 6:00p.m. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification for the rest of the week.
- Participants cannot touch judges or spectators, or bring audience members on stage/into act. Doing so will lead to disqualification.

- The canned foods will be the only items your organization is allowed to use.If your organization is caught using any other items, (i.e. tape, glue, maps or pictures) besides the canned food your team will be disqualified for this event.
- Organizations will have 3 minutes to create the state of Texas using only the cans collected. No bagged food items or boxed food items allowed.
- At the end of three minutes all members must step away from their area, failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
- Each organization will be judged on:
- Creativity
- Level Of Difficulty
- Accuracy/Resemblance of State of Texas
- Each organization/department is responsible for storing and transporting their canned food items until the Rescue Mission collects the canned food after this event.

- At the end of the 30 seconds, answers must be displayed to the judges. If answers are not written in time no points will be awarded for that question.
- The team with the most points at the end of 20 questions wins.
- In the event of a tie, a sudden death round will occur. Five movie clips will be shown. The team with the most correct answers wins.

- No alcohol or pets can be present at the float making party.
- No spray paint on concrete.
- Points will be deducted if an organization’s area is not cleaned.
