Slide 5 - Setups in Fusion Cost Management

Slide notes

Here are the various set ups required to make Cost Management applications work. The mandatory setups are highlighted. As you can notice, there are quite a few setups that are mandatory that need to be configured to derive the best out of the Cost Accounting system. The user has an option of doing a manual setup of each of these entities or use the Quick Setup to perform an automatic set up that uses some assumptions and pre-determined values for setup entities.

Notes

Slide 6 - Enhancements Overview

Slide notes

Using the Quick Setup task, the users can quickly configure and get the cost accounting application up and running with minimal effort. The quick setup task performs a series of setup tasks with default values. The quick setup task requires some basic information on cost organization and cost method that the user wants to use. Once the quick setup task creates the various entities, you can extend and embellish the data if necessary.

Here we show the steps that are followed by the quick setup process, where all the entities in red are automatically created, while the user entered activities are marked in pink.

Slide 8 - Configure Cost Management using Quick Setup

Slide notes

The quick setup task is very useful to help the cost accountant get the costing system up and running with minimal effort. It uses the minimal information provided by you and uses commonly used data and assumptions to perform the cost accounting setup. The data created by the quick setup task can be reviewed and can be changed before actually going live/using them.

Slide 51 - Setup Data

Slide notes

This table shows the default data that is setup by the Quick Setup process. The cost organization is created with the user entered name, while other entities are created with commonly used values. The cost book is created with the name Primary and is selected as the primary cost book and associated with the cost organization. Also, one default value is created for each of the cost element type.

Notes

Slide 52 - Setup Data

Slide notes

A new cost component group called “Default Component Mapping” is created and the cost elements created in the previous slide are mapped to the seeded cost components. 6 cost profiles codes are also created for a combination of cost method and asset type. The valuation structure is created for a combination of cost organization and inventory organization. All these entities that are created are mapped to the cost organization and cost book combination.
