Dear Parents

Angels of the North Concert

On Monday evening 60 Year 5 and Year 6 children represented Front Street at the Sage Gateshead. The children took part in a concert with other North East schools and blew the audience away with their singing. It was an amazing evening (even though it was somewhat late) and I was really proud to see Front Street performing. I hope all the parents who went along really enjoyed it. Thank you Miss Donkin, Miss Walker, Miss Routledge and Mrs Croft for giving up lunchtimes, playtimes and their time to make sure the children were well rehearsed. Well Done to all the children who took part and thank you.

We are waiting for information about the DVD and the concert programme .

Community Singing

A number of children from Year4, 5 and 6 have been chosen to sing at the Hermitage Garden on Monday 14th December from 3.30 – 4.15pm. The children will be bringing a permission slip for the event. Everyone is welcome to come along and listen to the carol singing and join in.

Parent Workshops

If you have applied for First Aid on Monday you have a place. If anyone would still like a placeplease ring the school office as we can still accommodate a few more. If you are interested in the new National qualifications in English and Maths, please see attached flyer for details.

Brainology Day

Yesterday, all children at Front Street were talking about BRAINS. Your child may have told you about how they've been developing a 'Growth Mindset' at school. Every class has been looking at and learning about the two types of mindsets that children and adults can have, a ‘fixed’ mindset and a ‘growth’ mindset.

It has been proven that having a Growth Mindset can improve children’s progress and attainment. As a result, we are teaching our children that by having a Growth Mindset they can grow their brains and intelligence and achieve anything they want!

See the website for photos of the kind of things they got up to. More information will be coming soon on the website.

Dropping Off and Picking Up

Please can I ask parents not to drop off or collect children from the office unless a prior arrangement has been made with me. Obviously this does not include children who are coming for clubs. Children should be dropped and collected from the correct school yard. The office is really busy first thing and last thing and we have your child’s safety at heart. Thank you.

Rights Respecting Schools Award

Five of our RRSA ambassadors attended an annual Gateshead event to celebrate the rights of a child. As we are a ‘Rights Respecting School’ we took along a non-Rights Respecting School to share our knowledge and work with them. We had a great day at the Baltic celebrating the rights of children. We also took part in an outright campaign where we wrote messages for David Cameron regarding the conventional rights of the child (UNCRC).

We will be referencing the articles from the UNCRC toour school policies and newsletters.

Friends of Front Street

The FOFS are trying compile a calendar for parents to buy with all the children’s photographs on. If you do not want your child’s photograph to be on this please can you let the office know on Monday.
