THE WIGHT FOUNDATION, INC.
The Wight Foundation places students from the Greater Newark New Jersey area in boarding high schools located in New England, the Mid-Atlantic region and the South. The Foundation supports and encourages students to excel academically, emotionally, socially and personally. As part of the application process, students who qualify to become finalists participate in the Scholars Training & Enrichment Program (STEP). The program is designed to prepare students for the academic and personal challenges of the boarding school experience.
S.T.E.P.
The Scholars Training & Enrichment Program (STEP) is designed to strengthen critical academic skills, while exposing students to advanced levels of learning. The challenging curriculum of STEP creates a dynamic learning experience. This experience is built on a commitment to nurturing intellectual curiosity, leadership ability and a compassion for humanity through the concept of community. STEP encourages students to challenge themselves by taking ownership of their personal growth and development through increased personal accountability.
Positions Open for Fall 2017, Spring 2018, & Summer 2018
Subject areas include:Math, World History, Science, Computer Science and Robotics
Ideal Candidates will have:
-a strong Middle School level teaching background
-the ability to develop creative lesson plans, connect with students and lead them to academic success
-strong organization and classroom supervisory experience
-excellent written and oral communication skills
*High school and/or independent school experience will be weighed favorably during applicant review.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
