Opening Song: “Build Your Kingdom Here”

Come set Your rule and reign in our hearts again

Increase in us we pray, unveil why we're made

Come set our hearts ablaze with hope like wildfire in our very souls,

Holy Spirit come invade us now--- We are Your church, we need Your pow'r in us

We seek Your kingdom first, we hunger and we thirst

Refuse to waste our lives for You're our joy and prize

To see the captives' hearts released, the hurt, the sick, the poor at peace

We lay down our lives for heaven's cause--- We are Your church, we pray revive this earth

Build Your kingdom here, let the darkness fear. Show Your mighty hand, heal our streets and land

Set Your church on fire, win this nation back. Change the atmosphere, build Your kingdom here we pray

Unleash Your kingdom's pow'r, reaching the near and far

No force of hell can stop, Your beauty changing hearts

You made us for much more than this, awake the kingdom seed in us

Fill us with the strength and love of Christ--- We are Your church, we are the hope on earth

Greeting

Announcements

Fr. Brian or Fr. Don will point out noteworthy events. Announcement reels play on the screen before and after the service.

Following the announcements, we take time to share our stories of “normal Christian behavior”, that is, sharing Jesus with others. We will also send out volunteers who will conduct a service at Silvergate Assisted Living Facility.

Prayer for Silvergate Volunteers (together)

O God, You have baptized us by one Spirit into one Body. Help us as we extend the Body of Christ to our family at Silvergate. Send Your Word and Your love into this place where You’ve planted us, and anoint these servants today to speak Your words and be Your Hands. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Celebrant Blessed be God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

People And blessed be His kingdom, now and forever. Amen.

The Collect for Purity

Almighty God, to You all hearts are open, all desires known, and from You no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit that we may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify Your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Song of Praise: “Sing To The King”

Sing to the King Who is coming to reign, glory to Jesus the Lamb that was slain

Life and salvation His empire shall bring, and joy to the nations when Jesus is King

Come let us sing a song, a song declaring that we belong to Jesus, He is all we need

Lift up a heart of praise, sing now with voices raised to Jesus, sing to the King

For His returning we watch and we pray, we will be ready the dawn of that day

We'll join in singing with all the redeemed 'Cause Satan is vanquished and Jesus is King

The Collect of the Day

Celebrant The Lord be with you.

People And with your spirit.

Celebrant Let us pray.

Grant us, O Lord, to trust in You with all our hearts; for, as You always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so You never forsake those who make their boast of Your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Scripture Lessons

The Bible is at the heart of our worship, because in it we read and understand the very words of God. Every word in the Bible has come from God and is vitally important so that we can know His heart and His truth. Each week during our service, we read a section of the Old Testament, a Psalm, a section from the New Testament, and a reading from the Gospels. If you do not have your own Bible, we would like to give you one as a free gift – please speak to a clergy member or an usher.

Old Testament Lesson: Ezekiel 33:1-11

Once again a message came to me from theLord:2“Son of man, give your people this message: ‘When I bring an army against a country, the people of that land choose one of their own to be a watchman.3When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people.4Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die.5They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives.6But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn’t sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.’ 7“Now, son of man, I am making you a watchman for the people of Israel. Therefore, listen to what I say and warn them for me.8If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths.9But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself.10“Son of man, give the people of Israel this message: You are saying, ‘Our sins are heavy upon us; we are wasting away! How can we survive?’11As surely as I live, says the SovereignLord, I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live. Turn! Turn from your wickedness, O people of Israel! Why should you die? The Word of the Lord.

People Thanks be to God

Psalm 119:33-40

33 Teach me your decrees, OLord; I will keep them to the end.
34 Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions;

I will put them into practice with all my heart.
35 Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.
36 Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!
37 Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word,
38 Reassure me of your promise, made to those who fear you.
39 Help me abandon my shameful ways; for your regulations are good.
40 I long to obey your commandments! Renew my life with your goodness.

Epistle Lesson: Romans 12:9-21

9Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.10Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.11Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. 12Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.13When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. 14Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them.15Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.16Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! 17Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.18Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. 19Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,”
says theLord. 20Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.”21Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. The Word of the Lord.

People Thanks be to God

Gospel Hymn: “Surely the Presence of the Lord”

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place, I can feel His mighty power and His grace

I can hear the brush of angel's wings, I see glory on each face

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place

Deacon The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Matthew.

People Glory to you, Lord Christ.

Gospel: Matthew 18:15-20

15“If another believersins against you,go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.16But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses.17If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector. 18“I tell you the truth, whatever you forbidon earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permiton earth will be permitted in heaven. 19“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.20For where two or three gather together as my followers,I am there among them.” The Gospel of the Lord.

People Praise to You, Lord Christ.

The Sermon

Nicene Creed

Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed:

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the Right Hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, Who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Prayers of the People

This is a time for group prayer as well as personal prayers. Please prayerfully respond to the leader with the words in bold type. And please add your own prayers of thanksgiving and intercession either silently or aloud when invited to do so.

Let us pray for the whole state of Christ’s Church and the world. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord, we pray a special prayer today for our families, especially for our children and grandchildren. We pray that they will know Jesus as Savior, that they will develop the discipline of prayer and time in Your Word, that You will bring into their lives godly adults and friends who will help them grow in godly living, that You will keep them pure and strengthen them against temptation, that they would develop discernment, wisdom, responsibility, and a strong conscience, that You will protect them from emotional, physical and spiritual danger, that they would leave home with an eternal perspective and Christ-like values, that they will sense Your calling on their lives and that their lives will count for Your kingdom. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

We thank you for the blessing of grandparents and elders. We give You thanks for their wisdom, life experience, and stories of faith from a life lived in You. Grant them courage to share their faith and godly example with those around them, and grant that they may be surrounded by the love and respect of their families and friends. We ask You to pour out Your joy, peace, wisdom, and blessing upon them; that they may live and trust in You. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Help us to fulfill Your great commission; making disciples of all nations; teaching them to obey all that You have commanded. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Give grace, heavenly Father, to all Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, and especially to Foley Beach, our Archbishop; Keith Andrews, our Bishop; Fr. Brian and Fr. Don, our Priests; Dee Renner, our Deacon; and Gerry Teplansky, our Seminarian, that by their life and teaching, they may proclaim Your true and life-giving Word, and rightly administer Your holy Sacraments. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
