HR Advisory Service Training Events 2013-2014

Welcome to the HR Advisory Service training programme for the 2013-2014 academic year. The training schedule has been organised around the main people management issues which you may encounter within your school and have been arranged to be delivered when they will be of most use to you. Additional workshopswill be provided as and when policies are reviewed within the Advisory service, to support the implementation of these new policies within your school. Information regarding these will be provided via First Point.

All training sessions will be delivered at either Heath Training and Development Centre or the HR offices at 3rd Floor, G Mill, Dean Clough, Halifax.

Prices are provided below for the training events:

½ day workshop / Full day Workshop
Schools who subscribe to Calderdale HR Advisory Services – either Option A or B / £60 for one attendee
Or
£50 per person when more than one person from the same school attends / £100 for one attendee
Or
£90 per person when more than one person from the same school attends

Please note that there is no fee applicable to the New Heads Induction sessions.

Future events

Below is a list of events which the Advisory services are proposing to run over the 2013/14 academic year. If you are interested in attending one of these events please indicate on the booking form below and we will contact you with further details once the dates have been confirmed.

SR01: Safer Recruitment

NH02 (Spring Term)/NH03 (Summer Term): New Headteachers Induction – a repeat of the previous session – will be run as required

AM01: Attendance management

Delegates will learn how to effectively manage employee absenceand as a result maximise staffattendance. Delegates will gain:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the principles of pro-active attendance management
  • How to identify patterns of absence, differentiating between short-term persistent absence and longterm absence and the most appropriate methods of dealing with these including Occupational Health assistance
  • The ability to develop strategies for pro-active attendance management in the workplace

DM01: Discipline and Grievance including managing investigations

Discipline and grievance issues can be difficult to manage which need to be resolved in a consistent manner in line with the appropriate policy and procedure. Delegates will learn:

  • How to investigate potential disciplinary and grievances issues
  • How to prepare for and present, a case at a disciplinary hearing
  • Guidance and practical toolson managing the disciplinary and grievance process

PM02: Appraisal and performance management

Managing the performance of your employees is essential to meet the schools aims and objectives. This workshop will provide Delegates with:

  • A greater understanding of the principles of Appraisal procedures and processes
  • The knowledge to enable you to develop strategies for maximising staff performance – including teaching and non-teaching staff
  • Setting teachers objectives in line with the revised performance related pay criteria

Please note that this session will be an updated version of the event scheduled for September 2013 addressing any applicable changes to appraisal identified as a result of the new STPCD 2014-15.

CM01: Redundancy & Restructures

Delegates will learn how to successfully carry out a school restructure and redundancy process and gain a greater understanding of:

  • How to quickly, efficiently and fairly restructure teams and departments
  • How to handle redundancies and redeployment
  • Consultation and working with the Trade Unions
