Course Name and Description Changes

RTV 151 Introduction to Television Production

(Proposed-Beginning Video Photography and Production)

The name change reflects changes in the journalism business and makes the class open to all JOUR students. The description change gives an update due to new technologies and more complete idea of what the class will cover.

RTV 350 Television Directing and Production

(Proposed-Intermediate Video Photography)

The old RTV 350 combined both live television directing and television photography/production. The new RTV 350 and RTV 351 will create a single course for each discipline. This change will help students concentrate on video photography and storytelling while saving the directing for another course.

RTV 351 Advanced Television Directing and Production

(Proposed-Intermediate Video Directing)

The old RTV 351 combined both live television directing and television photography/production. The new RTV 350 and RTV 351 will create a single course for each discipline. This change will help students concentrate on video directing while saving the photography and storytelling for another course.

RTV 360 Advanced Broadcast Reporting

(Proposed-Intermediate Audio)

The old RTV 360 combined reporting for audio and video. The new RTV 360 and RTV 361 will create a single course for each discipline. This change will help students concentrate on audio reporting and production while saving the video reporting and producing for another course.

RTV 361 Newscast Producing and Reporting

(Proposed-Intermediate Video Reporting and Producing)

The old RTV 360 combined reporting for audio and video. The new RTV 360 and RTV 361 will create a single course for each discipline. This change will help students concentrate on video reporting and producing while saving the audio reporting and production for another course.

RTV 420 Radio Deliberation Project

(Proposed-Advanced Audio)

Name change is for consistency with new naming scheme in RTV department courses (basic, intermediate and advanced). Description change gives better information to let students know better what the course requires.

RTV 440 Television News Magazine Production

(Proposed-Advanced Video Storytelling)

Name change is for consistency with new naming scheme in RTV department courses (beginning, intermediate and advanced). Description change shows expansion of course to include more variety of long-form video programs.

RTV 450 Broadcast Newsroom-Production

(Proposed-Advanced Video Photography and Directing)

Name change is for consistency with new naming scheme in RTV department courses (beginning, intermediate and advanced). Description change shows expansion of course to include more variety of outlets for material (adding online to broadcast).

RTV 460 Broadcast Newsroom-Editorial

(Proposed-Advanced Video Reporting)

The name and course description change bring the class in line with our proposed new curriculum and for consistency with new naming scheme in RTV department courses (beginning, intermediate and advanced).

RTV 481 Documentary-Editorial

(Proposed-Student Documentary Unit)

Name and course description changes are needed because the new RTV 481 will be combining existing RTV 481 Doc-Editorial and RTV 482 Doc-Production into one class.

RTV 485 Advanced Television News Producing

(Proposed-Griz TV)

Change in name to reflect name of newscast. Change in description to add that students will now produce live newscast with additional online component.
