A Regional Race Officer Course (was OMRO) will be held at the ARETHUSA VENTURE CENTRE in UPNOR Nr Rochester. This will take place over the weekend of the 19/20th Feb 2005.

The course is designed to qualify you as an RYA Race Officer. With qualification you are entitled to the insurance offered by the RYA to cover your actions as a race officer. In today’s litigious world something to consider also having the back up and assurance that you have been trained by competent fellow race officers backed by the RYA and ISAF.

The course has changed slightly that no longer do you need any CV or previous Club Race Officer certification only an interest. With no experience you can achieve the Club Race Officer plus certification and convert to RRO anytime within 4 years by submitting your experience following the course.

If you have already, the experience and knowledge then you can qualify immediately for RRO.

The course covers two days and starts approximately 1000 hrs Saturday and ends with dinner (extra) Restart on Sunday again about 1000hrs with a short examination after lunch finish by approx 1530/1600hrs.

Cost is £40 per head to include Tea/Coffee lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

Overnight accommodation available at £24.

Course instruction by David Arnold (ISAF international race officer and principle race officer for Antigua week) and myself (ISAF international race officer and race officer for Grenada Easter regatta).

This is a must if you run any form of open meeting racing and will enlighten you how to think on your feet but not run into serious problems with competitors.
