A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Talt Johnson.
With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Talt Johnson, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.
WHEREAS, Talt Johnson was born on December 25, 1916, a native son of the Commonwealth and a resident of Bevinsville, Kentucky, and traversed these earthly bounds on February 13, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Talt Johnson was a proud retired Kentucky coal miner; and
WHEREAS, Talt Johnson was a longtime member of the United Mine Workers of America Local Union 5899; and
WHEREAS, Talt Johnson was the devoted and loving husband of Olive Kiser Johnson; and
WHEREAS, Talt Johnson was the beloved father of Benjamin Johnson of Welcome, North Carolina; Donald Johnson of Printer, Kentucky; Ronnie L. Johnson of Melvin, Kentucky; Roger Johnson of Bevinsville, Kentucky; and Wilma Lee McKay of Lexington, North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, Talt Johnson was also the beloved stepfather of Joseph Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida; Avery Johnson of Bevinsville, Kentucky; Patricia Potter of Langley, Kentucky; Eunice Warren of Corbin, Kentucky; Abby New of Corbin, Kentucky; Freda Counts of Michigan; and Mavis Caudill of Hi Hat, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Talt Johnson was the proud and loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren, the stepgrandfather of 16 stepgrandchildren, the great-grandfather of 17 great-grandchildren, the step-great-grandfather of 16 step-great-grandchildren, the great-great-grandfather of one great-great-grandchild, and the step-great-great-grandfather of three step-great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Talt Johnson was preceded in death by his loving parents, Steve and Diane Hall Johnson, an infant daughter, a stepson, Layne Johnson, and his first loving wife, Arnie Hall Johnson; and
WHEREAS, the passing of Talt Johnson has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Talt Johnson, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. The Senate recognizes that Talt Johnson was deeply loved by his family and friends and that he will be truly mourned.
Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Talt Johnson.
Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Olive Kiser Johnson, 4142 Kentucky Route 1498, Bevinsville, Kentucky 41606.
