  2. Corrections? No corrections. Minutes approved.
  1. Report from the MSU Officers
  2. President- Choumika Simonis
  3. HandCut Foods:Keep an eye out for updates regarding the café and the cafeteria. The cafeteria will reopen on May 15th as HandCut Kitchen. Expect to see changes from the catering company mentality to that of a restaurant mentality. Handcut Foods wants to provide healthy, local options ranging from vegetarian to international cuisine. The menu is still being finalized.

Currently, hours are expected to be:

  • 7am to 2pm,HandCut Kitchen (Stritch Cafeteria)
  • 7am to 3pm, HandCut Café

Student suggestions/concerns with response from HandCut Foods:

  • The staff is working on requests for making hot water and tea available.
  • Students are concerned about cost: There will be a variety of price points, and the staff is open to student input. Since HandCut is a local, non-traditional catering company,it can change the menu to meet demand. The goal is to provide good quality food.
  • Quick breakfasts: The kitchen plans to offer quick to-go food like oatmeal and fruit. Quick breakfast sandwiches will be offered as well.
  • What will happen to previous staff members? Many of them continued working for the former catering company at different sites, but a number of them decided to join HandCut Foods.

During the week of May 8th, HandCut Foods will be giving out samples that will be served in HandCut Kitchen.Stop by when the time arrives. They look forward to your input!

Please be diplomatic and constructive with your comments. Give your honest opinion in a professional manner and be specific about a course or faculty member’s areas of improvement. Be aware that negative and insensitive comments with no constructive feedback are seen by the LCME.
  4. Lost & Found Reminder: The lost and found for the Stritch School of Medicine is located at the security desk on the 1st floor by the main entrance. The security desk in the School of Nursing is another location. Please be aware the security guards will only keep items on site until the end of their shift. 9. Amendment to the Constitution: The motion to amend the MSU constitution was started by MSU President Choumika Simonis to include dates for class board transitions. A discussion began about proposing a May 1st transition date. The issue was debated and a suggestion was made to extend the transition date to June 1st, so the outgoing boards can finish any end of the year projects. During this time period, outgoing and incoming boards can meet while enabling the outgoing board to finish the school year. The end of the transition month and official start date of the incoming class board will be June 1st. A general vote was conducted to introduce the following proposed amendment:

"All class boards should begin the transition period on May 1st of an academic year. On June 1st, the newly elected board will assume responsibility for the subsequent academic year."

This specific proposed amendment will be voted on at the next MSU meeting in the fall to officially add it to the MSU constitution.

  1. Vice-President- David Grande
  2. Formal Events Survey results:

Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey! We received a lot of great feedback. You can still fill out the survey, here, if you want to share your comments and ideas.

MSU will keep the same structure for the upcoming year formals. So, there will be a smaller fall event for St. Luke’s Day and a larger spring formal. Some feedback included: more variability with the DJ and different song requests, accommodating 4th years by not having the spring formal before or during Match Day weekend since many 4th years will have their families in town, and more beverage options/longer open bar time frame.

  1. Treasurer- Christian Renz
  2. Presentation of the Budget
  3. Groups expected to fundraise
  4. Reminder to turn in all outstanding budget requests, within two weeks please. Please have all final expenses for the year submitted to Christian by Thursday, May 18th. Funds will not roll over to the next academic year.
  5. Tax Exemption

a)Groups will not be reimbursed for spending money on taxes.
