Volunteer Task Force Liverpool

Who are Diabetes UK?

As the UK’s leading diabetes charity, our mission is that by bringing people together to work in partnership, we will support those living with diabetes, prevent Type 2 diabetes, make research breakthroughs, and ultimately find a cure.

What will the Volunteer Task Force do?

We arebringing together a group of volunteers in the Liverpool area who have a mixture of skills, interests and ideas. Together the task force will work as a team to raise awareness locally about footcare and education for people affected by diabetes through a series of activities/events. By connecting as a group you can motivate, encourage and receive support from each other.

Aim

In the UK there are more than 20 leg, foot or toe amputations every day because of diabetes. This is shocking as four out of five of these amputations are preventable. Liverpool is no different and in fact are above the national average for diabetes related lower limb amputations. This is why we think it is so important to highlight the importance of footcare and education for people with diabetes in Liverpool. If people are equipped with more knowledge about diabetes and how to manage it then hopefully some of the devastating complications like amputation could be avoided. You hold the key to connecting with the Liverpool community and your input into this task force could help people to find the support they need to better manage their condition, moving towards a world were diabetes can do no harm.
