JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: TRANSPORTATION CENTER MANAGER

CLASSIFICATION:SUPERVISORY

GRADE LEVEL:ONE - FOUR

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

TheTransportationCenterManagerdirectsandsupervisesallactivitiesoftheTransportation

Center, focusing on safety andsecurity as well as the smooth running of the Center. The Transportation Center Manager will oversee the safety and security at all MTA properties.

SUPERVISION BY:DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER SERVICE

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • SuperviseallMTApersonnelwhenassignedtotheTransportationCenter including drivers
  • Manage all safety and security for all MTA properties, routes and services
  • CompileandmonitorTransportationCentersecurityservices;insuresecurityservice hoursareaccurateandcomplete
  • ActatliaisonbetweentheAuthority andsecurityservice(s)provider(s)
  • Report and document immediatelyanyincidentsoraccidentsthatoccurattheTransportationCenter
  • Manage all security events at any MTA properties
  • InsureconsistentandfairapplicationoftheMTApoliciesandproceduresissuedbymanagement
  • MaintainopencommunicationwithallemployeesassignedtotheTransportationCenterandprovidecounselingandassistanceasnecessary
  • Exerciseauthoritytodirectemployees,suchasTransitOperators,withintheTransportationCenter,includingadherencetoestablishedoperatingproceduresandpolicies
  • Make daily bank deposits of cash sales at Transportation Center
  • Act as liaison with any group(s) and authorize them to utilize Transportation Center Facilities as needed.
  • Act as liaison with other governmental agencies on safety and security issues involving MTA
  • Performotherdutiesasassigned.

  • Communicate effectively with employees and the public
  • Properly conduct investigations of customer complaints
  • Maintain proper decorum in the Transportation Center

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Safety or other related discipline orlaw enforecement experience
  • Experience in handling safety and security interactions
  • Transit experience
