left and right master pages (PageMaker shows you both master pages because

you chose Facing Pages in the Document Setup dialog box)

·  Choose Layout > Column Guides and specify three columns with 0.25 inches

of Space Between Columns.

set different column widths for each page. If you leave it unselected,

your settings will apply to both pages.

·  Click OK. Notice that the column guides now appear on all four pages.

·  Set up a Running Head (title text that appears at the top of all pages)

·  Zoom in to the specific area where you are going to work to make it easier

·  Create a Guide Rule to help you place the running head consistently across

both pages. Make sure your rulers are showing on your screen (if not, use View >

Show Rulers) Position pointer on the horizontal ruler until it turns into a white

arrow, then hold down the left mouse key until the pointer becomes a

double headed arrow.

·  Drag a blue horizontal guide rule down from the horizontal ruler.

·  Place the guide rule at 1/4 inch on the Y axis - look either at the vertical ruler or watch the control palette to place it most accurately. Adjust the ruler’s position after you have placed it by clicking and dragging it (If you can’t adjust the ruler’s position after you have placed it, you have your lock guides selected - go to View > Lock Guides and be sure it is deselected).

·  Select File, Save.

·  Select File, Save.

5. Placing art on the page

·  Click on the Page 1 icon.

·  First place horizontal guide rules at the following Y axis positions to help you place the art: 0.5, 2.5, 5.5, 5.75, and 7 inches. If you zoon in on the page, the Control Palette and Rulers will display finer increments.

·  Select File, Place.

·  Locate and open the file from the M340 web page, web links, pagemaker newsletter/leapduo.eps. Wait until you get the graphic loaded icon, then click anywhere on the page.

bottom windowshade and you’ll get another text icon to place at the top of the
