MAIN PURPOSE:

To produce digital content that enriches and promotes the MIDIRS website and ultimately raises brand awareness and grows engagement and subscriptions of the charity’s key products/services. Create copy for other digital channels: social media, email marketing and PPC.

JUDGEMENT AND DECISION MAKING

  • The post holder will work independently and is responsible for day-to-day decisions.

LIAISON

  • The post demands the ability to liaise with a wide range of staff and stakeholders for MIDIRS and NCT and work effectively as part of a wider team within the Marketing & Corporate Communications directorate.

AUTHORITY/SUPERVISION RECEIVED

  • Monthly 1:1 meetings with Digital Manager
  • Weeklydigital marketing team meetings

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Website

  • Write and edit engaging, relevant and SEO-friendly content for the MIDIRS’s website and blogs using WordPress and other multimedia software.
  • Ensure the website content is search friendly for all search engines, particularly Google.
  • Source images and content to keep sections up to date and relevant.
  • Be proactive in generating ideas and sources of new content for midwives.
  • Follow MIDIRS’ editorial policy and ensure copyright and data protection as necessary.
  • Create and maintain appropriate processes for housekeeping the MIDIRS’ website.
  • Work with IT team to resolve any technical issues with the MIDIRS’ website.

Social media

  • Create and manage MIDIRS’ Social Media Content Schedule each month to ensure all messages work collectively and are written to the highest standard.
  • Work with the MIDIRS’ editorial team to write and edit content for the MIDIRS blogs.
  • Source images for MIDIRS’ social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and blogs.
  • Monitor the channels on a daily basis and ensure all comments and mentions are responded to in a timely manner.

Email

  • Write the monthly MIDIRS e-newsletter to subscribers using dotMailer.
  • Manage the MIDIRS’ dotMailer account and ensure the charity is using it to its full potential.
  • Work with the IT team to gain data sets on a monthly basis.
  • Manage the suppressions of the MIDIRS’ account on a daily and monthly basis.

Google Analytics

  • Manage MIDIRS’ Google Analytics (GA) account and ensure it is fit for purpose.
  • Create and manage goals for the website.
  • Use the Campaign functionality in GA to measure the success of campaigns and activities.
  • Use Google URL Builder to create trackable URLs.

PPC

  • Develop and manage MIDIRS’ Google AdWords Grant.
  • Create, edit and monitor campaigns on a regular basis to ensure Ad Groups and Keywords are performing to full potential.

Monitoring and evaluation

  • Compile MIDIRS’ Monthly Digital metrics.
  • Produce MIDIRS’ Monthly Digital Report.
  • Update the relevant work activity strand in the Weekly Work Priorities Timeplan.

Working as an effective team member

  • Build strong relationships with colleagues at MIDIRS and other teams across NCT.
  • Participate in marketing team meetings and contribute to overall department targets.
  • Advise other staff members on the most effective promotional use of MIDIRS’ digital channels and work with them to ensure necessary messages are delivered efficiently.
  • Support the Digital Manager on specific projects and campaigns for MIDIRS and NCT.

Supporting NCT’s digital channels

  • Thepost will be required to also assist in supporting NCT’s digital channel (SEO, PPC, Display, Website, Email, Video and Social Media) as and when required.

General

  • Keep up-to-date on new developments in digital marketing and where necessary develop plans for adopting appropriate change.
  • Be the central point of contact for daily requests about the MIDIRS’ website and social media channels.
  • Lead on all day-to-day activities of the team.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

SKILLS LEVEL, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 3 years working in digital marketing communications either in an agency or in-house.
  • Excellent writing, editing and communications skills. Focused with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Writing and editing content for a dynamic website and social media. Able to be creative, proactive and resourceful to get work done quickly and to a high standard.
  • Use of WordPress to create and manage web content for an organisation.
  • Use of email platform solutions such as dotMailer to create campaigns and measure their success.
  • Management of social media channels in a professional capacity for an organisation.
  • Track record of using Google AdWords to drive conversions and brand awareness of an organisation.
  • Use of Google Analytics to measure success and the impact of an organisation’s digital marketing efforts.
  • Has worked with a range of stakeholders including external organisation, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Multi-tasker accustomed to prioritising work schedules and working to tight deadlines.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector.
  • Broad understanding of copyright law, web accessibility, data protection and cookies compliance.
  • Understanding of MIDIRS and NCT’s area of work.

QUALIFICATION

Undergraduate degree and/or relevant qualification
