“Help is on the Way”-Ps.121
worshipers would sing as they made their way
to Jerusalem for the 3 great annual feasts..
Passover,Pentecost,Tabernacles……a pilgrim’s
song……tells of the dangers of the journey,
and of the help God provides along the way………
v.1 a weary traveler……cry for help………dangers
lurking all around (thieves that would rob us
peace,joy,and victory)…(sins that would quench
the fire of God in our souls)…(problems that
would strip us of the glory and power of God)……
difficult times when we wonder were our help
will come from………tells us of one who is greater
than any problem we may face……***Title***
I-The Source of our Help (v.2-4)
A-He is our Creator (v.2)
1-***hills***places of idolatry and false reli-
gion
2-no help in the false!
3-If our God can make this world, then surely
He can take care of you and me!
B-He is our Confirmer (v.3)
1-easy to slip into sin and discouragement
2-sustain us with His presence and His power
3-never made a house that fell or a foundation
that crumbled (Ps. 40:1-3)
4-“Comforter”……comes along beside us to offer
help and assistance during our journey
C-He is our Constant Helper (v.3b-4)
1-easy to slip and easy to sleep
a-grow weary and want to rest
b-let down our guard and get caught napping
2-ever awake and ever active on our behalf
a-doesn’t weary,doesn’t tire,and never falls
asleep!
b-***no use in both of us staying up!***
II-The Strength of our Help (v.5-6)
A-He protects us from our enemies(v.5)
1-warriors carried 2 items into battle
2-shield by the left hand and a sword in the
right
3-right side open unto attack
4-never know where we will be attacked(weak-
nesses and our strengths)*****
5-never catch God off guard!
B-He protects us from the elements (v.6)
1-sunstroke(body becomes overheated and shuts
down
2-moonstroke (the mind)…..mental illness was
thought to be caused by the moon
a-***lunatic”***
3-subject to attack in our bodies and our
minds (outside and the inside)***
4-wheteher the attack is open, or secret……..
comes by day or in the darkness of the night
………God is aware and is there to protect you!

III-The Security of our Help (v.7-8)
A-We are preserved from evil (v.7)
B-We are preserved for eternity (v.8)
1-He is my security,salvation,my song!!!
Close:great promises for the journey……A great
God in heaven who is concerned about our
Lives…….daily trust Him!!!
