THE MINUTES

The Minute of the meeting held on 15 February, 2016 was approved.

MATTERS ARISING

Future Meeting Dates: These were agreed as: Monday, 9 May, 2016 at 7.00 p.m. in the School and the Informal Social Meeting on Monday, 13 June, 2016 at the Byre, Mossneuk.

TREASURER’S REPORT - Mr C Wylie

Progress continued to be made with completing the signatories on the bank form. The Treasurer hoped to give a more comprehensive report at the next meeting.

The HT added that the clothes bank had brought in a further £30 since our last meeting. Cllr Anderson mentioned that a ‘Swap and Save’ outlet was seeking premises within the local area and suggested that this might present some fundraising opportunities. Meanwhile the HT was pleased with the steady flow of income from our clothes bank.

HEAD TEACHER’S UP-DATE - Mr G Wynne

Staff News: The Parent Council was greatly saddened to learn of the sudden death of a valued member of the School Office Staff in recent days and appreciated that this was an extremely difficult time for all within the School office. Members extended their condolences to all within the School community and to the late Mrs Marshall’s family.

The HT explained the Leeting and Recruitment arrangements for new posts of subject teachers.

Pupil News: The meeting noted that an exhibition entitled Pits, Pony and People at the Low Parks Museum was running from 10 March to 31 December. A number of Duncanrig pupils were working on the displays.

An initiative was being implemented to encourage girls from S1-S4 to become more active through sport.

The senior Hip Hop girls enjoyed great dancing success by winning the SLC championships.

Some twenty six pupils gained their Duke of Edinburghbronze and silver medals presented at the Town House in Hamilton.

The School’s Concert Band took first place at the recent Glasgow Music Festival.

The School’s Senior Public Speaking Team had a spectacular win at the Scottish and North of England competition. They now progress to the National competition in May at Preston, along with the inter-mediate team of St Brides and St Andrews. Well done to these two East Kilbride schools for this exceptional performance. The Parent Council wish the Duncanrig Team every success in their category at the National Competition.

Parent News: The S3 Parents Evening was a great success with good responses and on the whole positive feedback. An area the School had identified and planned to improve on was the recording and reporting mechanism. Feedback from volunteer parents would be sought. The HT and Principal Teachers had met to discuss ways of making the reporting process more meaningful

Operational Matters: Progress continuing with new School website and Twitter Feeds. The HT would report progress at our next meeting.

Luwero Trip Fundraiser: A Coffee Morning was to be held next weekend from 10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. at the Westwoodhill Evangelical Church. Members were encouraged to support this event if possible.
