COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students will learn and demonstrate basic drawing techniques using a variety of drawing media. Exploration in mixed media, composition and Artists of significance will enhance the learning experience. A portfolio will be required for all class assignments.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: Students will form a basic understanding of the importance of drawing as an art form. They will gain comprehension of drawing as basic to all other forms of art. They will demonstrate their knowledge of the media and presenting their work before the public. Cultural importance and personal style will be a factor in exploring new ideas and techniques.
GRADING: Grading will be based on the following criteria: 90 100 = A
80 89 = B
70 79 = C
60 69 = D
Below 60 is failing
Portfolio presentation = 75 grade points, class attendance and participation = 25 points
ATTENDANCE: All students must attend on time and stay until the class ends. Poor attendance will lead to a lower letter grade and three absences may result in being dropped from the class roster. If an unavoidable absence occurs, please contact me at my email or phone. Arrangements may be made for make up work.

Students should either make or purchase a portfolio to keep all class work in a clean, safe place. The minimum size of the portfolio is 18x24 inches. A drawing board is required for the class and it should also be no smaller than 18x24 inches, and may be made of ¼inch plywood or masonite. An old shirt or cover up of some sort is recommended to keep clothing clean from an assortment of art materials. The most important requirement is to enjoy the art of drawing and discovering your own creative talents.
