POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be performing various structural welds and basic fitting for all of our unitized systems (can lines).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Mig weld structural steel in all positions.

§  Mig weld carbon steel and possibly other alloys.

§  Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

§  Basic knowledge of lay out, positioning, aligning, and securing parts and assemblies prior to assembly.

§  Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.

§  Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.

§  Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

§  Exceptional attendance.

§  Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Perform set-up, material handling duties, and minor general maintenance.

§  Responsible for area housekeeping.

§  Participate in the processes of continuous improvement.

§  Ability to effectively perform similar position on the floor at any point in time.

§  Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.

§  Travel domestically and internationally.

§  Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures. May travel to jobsites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required. Must be able to stand/walk 90% of the time and sit 10% of the time.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

§  High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.

§  Ability to pass Roeslein’s mig welding certifications is required; includes ability to mig weld in 3G (vertical) position and to pass a bend test.

§  Must be able to consistently execute quality mig welds.

§  One (1) to three (3) years of welding experience is strongly preferred.

§  Ability to read blue print drawings is required.

§  Strong math skills are required.

§  Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.

§  High level of energy and motivation.

§  Ability to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, frequent and mandatory overtime, weekends, and some holidays are required.

§  Must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management, in a team environment.
