The Heartbeats
“People are Talking” about the Heartbeats coming to PORCC Club. I hear their “Down on their knees”, anxiously awaiting and praying for their arrival to get here soon. Yes – Just a little play on words to get your attention!!! I hope to have your “undivided” attention for this show. They have never been to Pittsburgh to perform. More originals than most groups from this era – Tell your friends and bring them along. Let’s really have a good turn out for this once in a million chance to hear “The Heartbeats!” See you there!
Review: Otis Williams and The Charms
Well I don’t know about you, but I was “In Paradise” (Hee Hee) Sunday night at our Otis Williams and The Charms show. Voices were in great shape, harmony was good. Otis had some great stories to tell us about the music business. “Hearts Made of Stone”, “Save Me, Save Me”, “Mister DJ”, “ Two Hearts, Two Kisses”, Plus many more!
The first seemed a little shorter than we’re used to but the second show more than made up for it! Otis still sounds as great as ever. He’s recovering from a severe throat and thyroid illness. He and The Charms are – Well let’s just say “Charming”. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did. Also On behalf of the PORCC Club we would like to give a special Thanks to Mike Mc Nutt from CODA, in Cincinnati, for his help in transporting the group to Pittsburgh and making this show a success!
PORCC’s 1st Annual Doo Wop Awards Extravaganza - Robin Davis continues to work on this endeavor with a few volunteers; more help is needed please call Jan Taper at 724-745-6898 if you’re interested in getting involved.

United Group Harmony Association (UGHA) - I received a call from an Associate Member, Bill Olb from New Jersey. He is also a member of UGHA. UGHA is celebrating their 30th Anniversary & are 1900+ members strong! WOW!! He is sending me DVD packets from UGHA shows, Photos & Program included to help PORCC get extra revenue. The packet will sell for $50.00 each & will be for sale to PORCC Members Only. I will preview the packet & give you the low down at our next show. He tells me many of the acts were acts also performed at PORCC. I believe it spans their 30 years of existence. They’d make a great Christmas Gift!!! I’ll keep you posted.
