Trans Community Leader
Date last updated: 13THDec 2017
About the Role
Trans Community Leaders will work on behalf of the transcommunities across Greater Manchesterto help ensure that LGBT Foundation’s Trans Programme events and services are designed and deliveredwith the real needs of all trans people at the heart.
This new project is an opportunity for transvolunteers from all parts of Greater Manchester to make sure an authentic trans voice is heard to bring forward issues which for many are not currently addressed, ensuring that service providers have the information required to better cater for the needs of trans people. This work programme plays a vital role in making sure that the LGBT Foundationcan reachmore trans people and enables them to have their voices heard and their needs met on issues relating to health, social care and wellbeing.
Trans Community Leaders aim to address health inequalities by ensuring that services and events hosted by LGBT Foundation and partners are relevant to the changing needs of trans people, ensuring that trans people feel able to access services at an earlier stage at which health outcomes are more positive, as opposed to presenting at a later stage when health outcomes are bleaker.
This role informs the development of targeted health & wellbeing awareness campaigns on health inequality issues affecting the transcommunity and helps to develop targeted services for issues disproportionately affecting trans people.
Trans Community Leaders are supported to champion the Trans Programme and LGBT Foundation’s work as a whole and promote our lifesaving services to the trans community and beyond.
Trans Community Leaders will be given opportunities to work with and advise on the following services & Events:
•Trans Advocacy Project (Launching in 2017)
