Life Enrichment Instructor – Summer Teen Adventure Camp
(Temporary Position)
Job Description
Job Function: Providesteenagers (13-17) with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment that enhances quality of life through community integration and recreation opportunities.
The Arc’s Summer Teen Adventure Camp (STAC) program operates from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, from June 11 through July 20 (excluding the first week of July). During the summer of 2018, the program starts and ends at 13430 West Avenue, but will be community based. It is estimated that the program will serve approximately 50 teens with special needs, with a maximum of 11 participants per week.
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Summer Teen Adventure Camp
Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and current insurance.
Must be willing and able to drive a company vehicle: 15 passenger van or 14 passenger bus.
Experience working with individuals with intellectual or other developmental disabilities is preferred.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Must have the ability to assist individuals with daily living and personal care needs.
Must be punctual and dependable to work scheduled hours.
Must be able to work harmoniously with others to encourage and enhance the team process.
Duties:
Participates in planning and implementing curriculum and activities, including(but not limited to) daily living skills, arts and crafts, and community and recreational outings.
Ensures safety while out in the community for all participants.
Passes medication to participants as assigned.
Ensures a safe, clean, healthy, and comfortable environment for all participants and fellow staff members.
Follows The Arc’s policies and procedures.
Ensures that all daily logs, checklists, and service delivery logs are implemented.
Assists with toileting, feeding, and other daily living needs of participants.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay rate: $11.00/hour. No benefits for temporary positions.
