BELLWORK: Fill in agenda for the week. Glue notes on plot in notebook LESSON:Use the Sneetches youtube video to introduce plot. 12 mins. Have the kids fill out a plot graphic organizer (D59 from the Best Practices Tool Kit) as they watch the Dr. Seuss video- put them in groups to compare answers and have each group fill in a notecard to add to the appropriate slot on the bulletin board. BELLWORK: Journal Writing/POQ - Explain what you are most afraid of and why LESSON: Have kidsrank fears from the book p. 30 prior to sharing by show of hands - ask if any of those listed were things they wrote about Read, discuss, follow teacher manual/close read questions (have them stand pair share or partner move the answers as we go) The School Play by Gary Soto p. 30-39. BELLWORK: Journal Writing - pretend you are the director of the play. Write some advice you might give Robert to help him play his part. Complete comp/vocab sheet on own and then work as partners to check over work before we grade them together (earn half credit back if make corrections). BELLWORK: Journal Writing - write about a time you did something nice for someone - circle the pronouns in your writing LESSON: Possessive Pronouns: Sentence Bulls Eye - Draw two lines through two possessive pronouns and two endings to make a sentences.
