CTE Program Update
State Grant
An issue arose regarding tuition assistance for teachers. We are unable to do it the way had intended, so that money has been reallocated.
State Division Review of Teacher Ed Programs
This will be the major topic at the upcoming November 1 PTE meeting. Paul and the Dean are invited to this meeting
Engineering and Technology Education 2+2 with CSI
We are moving forward. John and Raymond met with Associate Dean Gregson. The proposal is being drafted for review and approval.
NCATE
Dan reported. He has been receiving some artifacts. Kudos to John for all he’s submitted.
He also put in a request for individuals to do approximately one-minute video blurbs in support of NCATE.
John expressed his appreciation for those who have contributed items to him.
Please put your submissions in to John, who will share them with Dan.
Business/Math PTE Limited Endorsement
Laura reported on this new endorsement. The idea behind this is to give PTE teachers a way to teach math courses to their students. They are still designing the endorsement. Stats and Computer Sciences courses can count toward this. So can MTI for PTE teachers.
The money from the State Grant that couldn’t be used for tuition relief, mentioned above, will go in part toward this project.
Laura has identified a .5 million grant.
The plan is to identify subjects that already have the math components in them, not adding math content to existing courses.
It is still not known if a math methods courses will be required.
The hope is to have this ready in May to go forward to approval.
They will also have to pass the 0069 Praxis.
Spring Schedule
Please get your needs to John who can get those to Teresa by September 12.
2013 Position Description
These need to begin to be developed. Be thinking about these and then work with Paul to finalize. The new 2+2 program will affect these.
New Business
Robert Rackstraw has been working with Janel. Because of this, Paul has been listed as major professor. Paul would like to see Raymond be listed.
This is the same for Michael Daly.
Raymond will be attending some conferences in November related to engineering technology.
Janel will also be attending a conference as well.
October 20 there will be a fall inservice.
Are the two new courses being addressed in the catalog under CTE? This will need to be looked into.
John will be in Moscow on September 24-25. The annual PTE audit is the 25th and then up to CdA 25-26.
The EDCI 410 and EDCI 453 courses need to be added to the CTE emphasis in the catalog.
