ACONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR HUNTER BOND OF LAURENS COUNTY FOR HIS SUCCESS AND SKILL AS A BASS FISHERMAN AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR WINNING THE 2014 SOUTH CAROLINA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE BASS FEDERATION/FORREST L. WOODHIGH SCHOOL OPEN.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were pleased to learn that Hunter Bond won the Bass Federation/Forrest L. Wood (TBF/FLW) High School Open State Championship on March 9, 2014, on scenic Lake Russell; and
Whereas, Hunter Bond and his fishing teammate, George Compton, both sophomores at Laurens District High School, were the highest finishing team from South Carolina, bagging four fish that weighed nine pounds andnine ounces total; and
Whereas, the BondCompton team used a Carolina rig to catch the bulk of their fish during the tournament, but the rugged weather changes required all the anglers tostay focused all day; and
Whereas, with both of the top two teams bagging four live fish totaling the exact same weight, the BondCompton team tied with Connor Giella and Zach Battle of Augusta, Georgia, which led to a registration date tiebreaker to determine the overall champions and a win for the Georgia team. Both teams shared the Booyah Big Bag award, which goes to the team with the largest sack of fish each day at the tournament, and oneyear subscriptions to Fishidy; and
Whereas, the top ten teams will represent their respective schools at the Southeastern Conference Regional Championship and viefor a berth in the TBF/FLW Outdoors High School National Championship and a $10,000 scholarship prize; and
Whereas, successful in the classroom as well as on the lake, Hunter Bond is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and the Beta Club and serves as treasurer of the LDHS student body; and
Whereas, he is also a member of the LDHS football team and the fishing team; and
Whereas, FLW Outdoors is the sanctioning organization for a series of sport fishing tournament tours, and the organization’s initials are taken from Forrest L. Wood, the founder of Ranger Boats and developer of the Ranger fishing boat; and
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly appreciates the standard of excellence set by Hunter Bond and looks to hear of his continued success in the day ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Hunter Bond of Laurens County for his success and skill as a bass fisherman and congratulate him for winning the 2014 South Carolina State Championship of The Bass Fisherman/Forrest L. WoodHigh School Open.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Hunter Bond.
