NUR 201 - IV Therapy for LPN’s

(60 lecture hours, 12 lab hours, 15 clinical hours, 5 credits)

Prerequisites:

LPN License in Co.

Pass background check through American Data Bank

Pass 10 panel drug screen

Certified in CPR for Professional

Provides LPNs with an opportunity to expand their nursing roles by learning appropriate procedures for intravenous therapy and venous blood withdrawal. The course includes lecture, laboratory practice and clinical experiences. The course prepares the student for IV certification under State Board of nursing Guidelines.

Incorporates an in-depth analysis of critical issues in political science. Examines current topics and issues.

HIS 260-US Foreign Relations History

(45 lecture hours, 3 credits

Provides an overview of the history of United States foreign relations from the colonial era to the present and includes the pertinent political, military, economic, diplomatic, social, religious, ideological and cultural topics. At various points, issues such as race, class, gender, immigration, expansion, and the environment will be covered. This course also focuses on developing, practicing and strengthening the skills historians use while constructing knowledge in the discipline.

INFORMATION ITEMS:
Hospitality Management AAS degree and Certificate being added to MCC offerings. Jaylene will present the AAS degree and certificate layouts at the next meeting.

Courses are being added during this meeting. We plan to begin teaching courses Fall 2009. Jaylene will let us know when it has been approved and if there are any changes or if it is approved as submitted. Will list it in the catalog as “Pending CCCS Approval”

AAS-Business Administration (Concentration in International Business)
Already approved under the Business Administration degrees through the state. We will begin to offer it Fall 2009. Tabled until next meeting.

Statewide Faculty Advisory Council (SFAC):

STATE FACULTY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE REPORT (SFCC):

Ken Harrell is going to meeting tomorrow in Carol Kuper’s place.

A couple courses are going up for GT. They are going to be discussing putting parameters on “what” gtPATHWAYS is/should be. Carol sent a compilation of the responses she received from MCC respondents who indicated what their feelings about gtPATHWAYS should be.

(Curriculum Committee normally meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 4:00-4:45 p.m. for Spring term 2009. Meetings are being moved from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. to accommodate faculty who have classes until 3:50 p.m.)

The requirement that paperwork be submitted electronically by the Division Chairs to the meeting Chairperson one week prior to the meeting is making it possible for the meetings to be shorter and quicker due to advanced review and correction of materials.
