Unit Council Meeting

April 1, 2015

Dean Perry called the meeting to order at 11:40 am

Dean’s Announcements:

-Artist/Teacher Institute: SCA is hosting a new Summer Program in July sponsored by NJCA & Dodge Foundation; NJ teachers will use our facilities to participate in arts workshops.

- Game Design Camp, successful camp last summer, will be repeated in 2015. A new Choral/Band Camp for HS students will be under the direction of Lisa Lutter and Chris Wilhjelm.

-Advisement/Registration for Summer/Fall 2015: Dean Perry stated that it appears that all holds were not put into effect. Faculty should meet with students and advise on Summer and Fall schedules. Summer registration deadline is May 26th.

-Schedule planning: Spring 16 schedule is due to Irene Grskovic by April 9th for input into Banner by April 20th.

-Admissions events: Admitted Student Days are on April 12th and April 19th; Ann LePore will replace Dean Perry on April 19th. Dean’s Reception for Admitted Students is April 7th at 5:30 in the Pavilion. Dean Perry encouraged faculty to attend and bring student representatives.

-CA Alumni Event: Alumni Advisory Board dinner reception will take place on Saturday, April 11th at 6pm in BC 216/Rehearsal Hall prior to the performance of Candide at 8pm in Sharp Theater. Terra Vandergaw will block out seats for alumni and guests.

-Commencement: Friday, May 15th at 5:30pm in Prudential Center, Newark.

This year’s Commencement speaker is Internet sensation and E-Network talk show host,

Grace Helbig, CA alumna class of 2008. Academic Achievement Awards and Arching will take place on Thursday, May 14. Dean Perry encourages all faculty to attend both events.

The CA Flag Bearer this year is Emily Brauer.

-Staff Recognition Awards: The President’s Staff Recognition Program handouts were distributed for nominations for the Staff Excellence in Service Award and Staff Leadership Award due on April 24th (or visit the website: www.rampo.edu/presiden/recognition.html)

-Town Hall Meeting for all CA students is on April 23rd from 1-2:00pm, sponsored by Student Government Association.

Guests:

-Eileen Quaglino, Asst.Director/Career Advisor, Cahill Center, CA Co-op/Internship: Students are required to go thru Cahill Center to sign off on their internships. Spring 2015 Co-op list of students and employers was distributed.

Employer in Residence Program working very well and is very effective.

Contemporary Arts Job Internship Fair will take place on Thursday, April 9th in Friends Hall from 1-3pm; there are over 15 employers attending.

Committee Reports:

-ARC: Ruma Sen announced deadline to submit courses for approval is October 15th; whole packets must be submitted to ARC in electronic form.

-Gen Ed: Jackie Skrzynski informed that the highest amount of responses to the Gen Ed survey came from SCA. She worked on defining and explaining “clusters.”

-TLTR: Ann LePore informed that the Spring deadline for TLTR grants is April 24th.

-AFT: Rachel Budin announced next meeting on April 8th.

-Curriculum Committee: Yolanda del Amo fixed list of CA uppers which is online.

-FAEC: Jonathan Lipkin informed that the Provost Task Force is on schedule on developing Fall 2016 schedule and recommends refinements for Spring 2016 schedule.
