Early Help Referrals -New Process - Leicester City only

Early Helpcriteria for when needs cannot be met by one single agency impact significantly on the child, young person and do not meet safeguarding thresholds.

The Early Help Referral Form is now on SystmOne-:communications and letters- letter template- safeguarding- referral for Early Help.

What are you worried about?

Please summarise the main issues for the family including how the family is functioning and any issues for adults in the household if they are impacting on the children. For example:

  • Drug/alcohol use
  • Debt or benefit issues
  • Domestic violence
  • Asylum seeking family

  • Education concerns
  • Housing concerns
  • Parenting capacity
  • Neglect

  • Offending or anti-social behaviour
  • Families not in employment, education or training
  • Mental or Physical Health

Please continue to use the LSCBSafeguarding Referral Form in adherence to safeguarding thresholds where a child/young person is at immediate risk of harm.

All referrals for Early Help must be telephoned through to theresponse team to discuss prior to any referral being accepted.

All boxes on the form must be populated- apply N/A where no information relevant (The Early Help Response Team will not accept forms where any boxes are left blank).

SystmOne Users

Thereferral must go through the safeguarding admin team as per usual process- task admin team stating Early Help Referral- this can be emailed safely and securely by the Safeguarding Admin Team to the Early Help Response Team.

Non-SystmOne Users

The Leicester City Early Help referral form is available on LPT e-source within the Safeguarding Referral section:-

The referral form can be completed electronically, printed and uploaded to the patient electronic record.

The referral submission to Leicester City Early Help is via the email process used for inter-agency referral forms. See below.

The Practitioner emails the completed Early Help referral to a secure email (see guidance on e-Source).

Email to include: Subject- Early HelpReferral (Practitioners name).
