CLASS TITLE:SUPPLY DATA CONTROL SPECIALIST

This is work developing, implementing and maintaining an extensive computerized inventory management system for a state agency.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Coordinates and maintains liaison with warehouse personnel and makes necessary changes to ensure the validity of current inventory data.
  • Coordinates and provides technical assistance to local, district and central office personnel on matters relating to the inventory management system.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for departmental supply data management.
  • Assigns controlled item codes, interchange ability and substitutability codes, inspection frequency codes, and shelf codes, based on the physical characteristics of items.
  • Prepares and maintains assigned master item identification data.
  • Distributes the various reports generated from the system to the districts.
  • Prepares input for catalog changes when technical data is changed.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining a technical supply library.
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of inventory management.
  • Ability to understand and use supply data management codes.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures pertaining to supply data management.
  • Ability to coordinate activities with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in stock control, inventory management or logistics; or
  • Possession of a Certified Purchasing Manager certificate and one year of experience as described above; or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience as described above.
  • Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
