Educational Trips and Visits

It is a fundamental belief at Langtree that learning takes place just as much outside the classroom as within, and students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of residential visits and day trips during their five years in the school. Residential visits include Youlbury camp for Year 7, the Year 8 French visit, a History trip to Auschwitz in Poland (every other year), outdoor education at Yenworthy or Kilvrough, and an annual ski trip. There is also a Key Stage 3 reward trip to Yenworthy Lodge for a weekend of watersports.

Various one day visits are organised regularly by staff. These vary from year to year. At Langtree, we believe that such activities provide students with the valuable opportunities to not only learn, but develop friendships, self-esteem, leadership skills and broaden their horizons away from the school environment in the ‘outdoor’ classroom.

Creativity Days

In addition to a very rich offer of trips and visits throughout a student’s career at Langtree, we also suspend the published timetable for two days each year to run a series of Creativity Days. During these days students are offered a very wide range of very different learning experiences, either in school or off site, which provide opportunities for students to engage in problem solving activities, creative thinking and develop their interpersonal skills working collaboratively in small groups. Full details of each day will be given well in advance and although we try to subsidise these as heavily as we can, please note that there is sometimes a small charge to parents for an offsite visit.
