Malta’s EU and international obligations to the environment require increased regulation of environmental issues. Consequently, ERA needs to regulate organised outdoor activities that are of potential environment risk.
There are 3 levels of regulation:
(A) activities that are exempt from registration or permit;
(B) activities that only require registration; and
(C) activities that require a permit.
This Application for PERMIT is intended to be used for organised outdoor activities which require permitting of activity (C).
The following Application for Permit Form should be filled in full and submitted to ERA.
Authorisation by ERA of such a permit will be subject to the outcome of the assessment of all relevant potential impacts on natural habitats and other important site features (including natural landform, geological features, rubble walls, existing buildings and structures) and on the flora and fauna of the site and its surroundings.
A permit may cover more than one activity, where these are to be carried out at the same time and on the same site, or are consequential to each other provided that:
i. the applicant shall assume responsibility for all such activities; and
ii. the application submitted to ERA shall clearly and fully identify all the various activities and their relevant details as per requirements of this application form.
