Introduction

Meanwhile Gardens Community Association (MGCA), The Venture Community Association (VCA) and Al-Hasaniya Moroccan Women’s Centre (AHMWC) seek to appoint a shared Volunteer Coordinator to manage all aspects of volunteering across the three North Kensington community centres.

Job Title: Shared Volunteer Coordinator

Accountable to: To the Project Manager at MGCA

Responsible for: Volunteers

Contract Term: 2 year fixed term contract

Salary: Salary £26,000 Pro rata

(including London Weighting)

Hours of Work: 21 hours per week.

Leave Entitlement : 15 days annual leave

JOB DESCRIPTION

Scope and Purpose of Job Description

Main Objectives

·  To recruit new volunteers to the three community centre in line with each centre’s requirements.

·  To support volunteers in their role at the centres and in their progression e.g. into training, new paid roles, etc.

·  To develop stronger relationships between the three centres and also with external support agencies and other local groups.

·  To develop good practice in volunteering for the three centres.

Key tasks and Responsibilities include:-

1.  Researching and updating volunteer policies and procedures.

2.  Liaising with each centre to understand how they work, develop partnerships and develop their volunteering needs.

3.  Generating appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the centre.

4.  Raising staff awareness of the role and function of volunteers.

5.  Ensuring there is appropriate support and training for volunteers.

6.  Promoting volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns.

7.  Recruiting volunteers and ensuring they are appropriately matched and trained for a position.

8.  Producing a person centred plan for individual volunteers and ensuring regular reviews.

9.  Organising rotas, providing inductions and training.

10. Monitoring, supporting, motivating and accrediting volunteers in their work.

11. Celebrating volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards and organising celebration events.

12. Offering advice and information to volunteers and external organisations through face-to-face, telephone and email contact.

13. Organising profile-raising events to attract new volunteers.

14. Attending committees and meetings as required.

15. Managing budgets and resources, including the reimbursement of expenses.

16. Keeping up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and making any necessary modifications to accommodate changes.

17. Identifying possible sources of income and writing funding bids to make the project sustainable.

18. Monitoring and evaluating activities and writing reports for funders, partners and trustees.

19. Maintaining databases and undertaking any other administrative duties.

20. To contribute to risk management and ensure the volunteers are aware of and understand the risks inherent in working with the complex needs of clients

21. To participate in staff meetings, training, supervision and appraisal meetings as required.

22. To undertake any other relevant duties as required by line management
