Vizrt solutions enhance TV Azteca’s World Cup coverage
Bergen, Norway, 7 July 2014
Mexican multimedia conglomerate TV Azteca has been using Vizrt's broadcast graphics tools for many years, and for the 2014 FIFA World Cup coverage they have created a new studio powered by Vizrt solutions.
Four Viz Engine rendering and real-time compositing tools from Vizrt are being used to enhance TV Azteca’s graphics, as well as for integrated social media capabilities, including its popular “Tweet Wall.” With Viz Engine, social media data is easily integrated into the graphics workflow, using TV Azteca’s in-house data analysis harvest tool integrated with the Vizrt Social TV solution.
“Providing highly visual, dynamic coverage and social interactivity in real time are critical during an event like the World Cup,” said Jesus Sanchez, Chief Technical Officer, TV Azteca. “Viz Engine, the Vizrt Social TV solution and Viz Virtual Studio have given a new level of quality to our social media capabilities and to the overall look and feel of our new studio.”
During the social messages section of TV Azteca’s sports news program, the Vizrt Social TV Feed Streamer enables a selected tweet from the “Tweet Wall” of twitter profile pictures to appear in the lower third of the screen as well as on the video wall.
For TV Azteca’s main show producer Aurora Brito, the way the solutions work together brings the most value. “With Vizrt, we not only get the benefit of a more efficient integrated workflow, we’re also able to engage viewers in new ways, with fantastic visuals and real-time social media data. It’s a win-win all the way around.”
All World Cup branding and other immersive graphics are enabled by Vizrt’s Viz Arena system. Typically used for immersive graphics in football stadiums, the solution is being used to create immersive graphics in the studio, allowing TV Azteca editors and producers to add any virtual 3D graphic directly into live coverage - from player statistics, team line ups to virtual advertisements.
“Premium, easily-integrated solutions that we can customise to fit our needs are always a hallmark of Vizrt,” added Manuel Perez-Tovar, Engineering Graphics and Project Manager. “Our new World Cup studio is no exception. We’re very pleased with what Viz Engine provides and how we’re able to use it.”
Vizrt has provided TV Azteca with content production tools since 2003.
“We’re delighted that TV Azteca has chosen to enhance their World Cup coverage with Vizrt - another step forward in our ongoing partnership for premium live sports coverage,” said Vizrt CTO Petter Ole Jakobsen.
