SCHOOL FINANCE SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION

  1. Purpose: Funding is provided to support the school finance systems required in HB2261, from the 2009 legislative session, and HB2776, from the 2010 legislative session. This proviso provides funding to pay for technical staff, system reprogramming, workgroup deliberations, and improved and expanded data submissions. Funding supports the legislatively mandated Quality Education Council and the Data Governance working group.

11.Future opportunities: This funding provides OSPI with the resources to maintain the apportionment system, operate a data governance process, and have enough technical staff to run and model funding formulas.

Sec 501(1) (b)Page 136 of 3ESSB5034: $1,017,000 of the general fund- -state appropriation for fiscal year 2014 and $1,017,000 of the general fund—state appropriation for fiscal year 2015 are provided solely for activities associated with the implementation of new school finance systems required by chapter 236, Laws of 2010 (K-12 education funding) and chapter 548, Laws of 2009 (state’s education system), including technical staff, system reprogramming, and workgroup deliberations, including the quality education council and the data governance working group.
