ELECTION RULES

  1. Constitution and Bylaws

The nomination and election of Officers/Chairs of Mankato Area Lacrosse Association (MALA) will be conducted in accordance with the MALA Bylaws dated June 2014

  1. Term of Office

The Officers/Chairs elected will serve a two year term which will begin immediately upon election.

  1. Eligibility to Hold Office

As provided in Article III, section 3.6 of MALA Bylaws-A nominee must be a member in good standing not in legal dispute with the Association. Who is a member is provided in Article II of the MALA Bylaws: Any adult whose child is a member of MALA lacrosse team or league and/or any adult who is actively involved as a player or coach of a MALA team or league or a member of the MALA Board of Directors is eligible to be a member of the Association.

  1. Nomination Notice

A nomination notice will be email to all members at least 60 days prior to the election meeting. Upon receipt of the notice, nominations may be emailed to Julie Karpinsky, Acting Secretary at or mailed to her at 1229 E Main, Mankato MN 56001. Nominations may also be made orally or in writing at the election meeting on October 26, 2015. Self nomination is permitted.

  1. Nomination Acceptances
    Nominees will be notified of MALAs receipt of their nomination if received by October 15th deadline. If nomination is sent by anyone other than the nominee themselves, the nominee has 5 days to accept or decline the nomination For nominations made orally or in writing at the election meeting, the candidate must accept or decline the nomination if present at the election meeting. Any nominee not present is required to submit an acceptance or declination in writing/email within 5 days after the election to Acting Secretary, Julie Karpinsky.
  1. Election Notice

A notice of election will be emailed to the last known email of all MALA members at least 60 days prior to the election.

  1. Election Day

The MALA election will be held Monday, October 26, 2015 at Snell Motors Community Room, 1900 Madison Avenue, Mankato MN from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Voting ballots with nominees will be provided. Write-in votes are accepted. For nominations made orally or in writing at the election meeting, the candidate must accept or decline the nomination if present at the election meeting. Any nominee not present is required to submit an acceptance or declination in writing/email within 5 days after the election to Acting Secretary, Julie Karpinsky.

  1. Tally of Ballots

Ballots will be counted by the MALA Board after the close of the election at 8:30. Write-in votes are permitted. The candidate who receives the highest number of votes cast for each office will be declared elected. Any tie votes will be decided by a coin toss conducted by the MALA Board

after the tally is completed on October 26, 2015.

The above rules are not all inclusive. Additional election rules or clarifications may be issued by the MALA Board as needed during the nomination and election period.
