POLAR ANIMAL REPORT

Format: Polar Animal–on–a-Box

Due: January 23rd

1.You have chosen a polar animal from the list to research for your report.

2. Bring in a non-fiction book about the animal to be checked.

3. Read the book and take notes as you read to help you gather the information

you need for your report.

4. You may use other resource materials in addition to your book if you wish.

Include the title and author of the resource in your report.

Set up your finished report as follows:

FRONT: 1)The name of the animal, picture of the animal.

2) Physical characteristics and adaptations: Describe, in detail, what the animal looks like. Discuss the adaptations that help it survive in a polar region. Illustration.

3) Your name goes down the bottom.

BACK: Habitat – we know it lives in the polar regions! Name whether it lives in the Arctic, Antarctic or both. Does it live in the water, on land, in the air, or a combination? Is there environmental damage to the habitat that is threatening its existence? Etc. Details! Illustration!

SIDE 1: Predators and prey: What does it eat? What eats it? How does it catch its food? How does it avoid being eaten?

SIDE 2:Interesting information. While you were reading, did you discover something about the animal that you thought was interesting? What makes this animal unique? Is there something about this animal that you found surprising, scary, beautiful, weird, etc? Tell about it.

TOP: Title and author of the book you read. If you used any other resources, include the title and the author of that material also.

You may either type , or write the information in your neatest handwriting. The illustrations may be your own drawings or pictures you find from other sources.
