SIT Minutes

February 7, 2013

Attendees: Mrs., Myers, Susan Hill, Mrs. Rutledge, Mr. Ramirez, Mrs. Marmolejo, Mrs. Store, Mrs. Miramontes, Ms. Arellano, Mrs. Blahuta, Ms. Encina, Annette Gonzalez, Mrs. Barragan

I.  Safety is top priority. Administration is asking that teachers discuss with students the following issues:

A.  Students playing football roughly. Student consequence will be losing possession of their footballs.

B.  Students entering from lunch in a disorderly manner. Please remind students to line up and walk quietly.

C.  Incident on 2/7/2013 required that the school keep students indoors during a police matter. Letters provided by the district should be sent home.

D.  Students should not be left unattended at any time. After school, teachers need to make sure students are being picked up. If necessary, adult should escort student to the front desk and have students call their parents f or pick up.

E.  During the school day, teachers should only go out through the front door. It is important for student safety. After 4:30 PM, teachers may exit through any door as long as doors lock behind them.

II.  Administration is looking for ideas to maintain or improve attendance.

A.  Ernie will put up pictures

B.  Suggestions: Put up pictures of bike winners.

C.  Early release drops off attendance especially in PK. Need to discuss ideas of how to improve.

III.  CIP has been changed in order to get monies moved to supplies.

A.  SPED advised to check with Ms. Pidone.

B.  Will check status of starfall

C.  Purchase order for 2nd box of paper is being processed at DSC. Paper to arrive sometime next week. Ms. Blahuta has graciously agreed to share her extra paper.

D.  Teachers requesting more copies.

E.  Administration will follow up on status of rizzo repair

F.  Administration requested time to adjust budget. Ms Myers stated that she is working on getting teachers supplies that are needed.

IV.  EPAC

A.  District Improvement Plan has had several changes.

  1. Added transportation costs to accommodate students who attend other schools due to neighborhood school not meeting AYP.
  2. Summer school will be provided using state compensatory funds.
  3. 1.7.3 will provide for tutoring for bilingual students
  4. Marcia Tate P2E is being planned for the summer
  5. 2013-2014 school year calendar is being worked on

B.  Tyler Munis program in place. Employees should keep track of pay check stubs to make sure there are no errors. E-mail password to view stubs is employees last 4 digits of social security number.

C.  Five technology teachers have been hired (or will be hired) to rotate around the district. Each feeder pattern will be assigned a technology teacher

D.  Climate survey

E.  For safety purposes, one person should be at front desk at all times. All doors must be locked during the school day except for front entrance door.

F.  SRO office will be positioned in middle and high schools. Elementary schools will share one officer for every four schools. Officer Mike Vasquez has been assigned to O’Shea.

G.  Board appreciation discussed.

H.  E-mail to change during the summer. Search option will be through last name.

I.  Two new schools opening: James P. Butler (Elementary) Manuel Puente (Middle School)

V.  Volunteer of the year

A.  Mrs. Myers suggested that this year, the campus nominate the person with the most service hours: Christina Rivera 718 hours.

B.  Fifth grade would like to get volunteers to run copies.

VI.  Questions/Other

A.  Post cards are just about ready. Gabby Warren has ordered and teachers should send out first batch to t-6 students in February.

B.  Grade levels should be sending Friday Planning Agendas to SC-IE’s on Thursday. Thanks to 5th grade for remembering to do so.

C.  PK teachers should include technology purchased with grant monies on the school inventory. They should place an asterisk on items purchased with grant monies.

D.  Staar t-shirt contest winners are students in Wilburn, Marmolejo, and Licerio’s class. Students will be awarded with award at the STAAR rally. Parents of winners will be approached about getting permission to print student signature on t-shirts.

E.  5th grade should submit names of students that will be attending Saturday school.
