Re: Believer’s Boldness
Date: November 22, 2009
Peace be unto you and praise the Lord. I am writing to communicate the scriptural references that His Eminence wants you to have.
1 / Let us therefore come in God’s presence boldly (with confidence)Bold = confident, courageous , shameless
Arrogant= proud and overbearing through an exaggerated feeling of one’s superiority / Hebrews 4:14, 16
Just as the High Priest under the Old Testament covenant passed through 3 areas (the outer court, the Holy place, and Holy of Holies) to make atoning sacrifice , Jesus passed through (the atmospheric heaven, the stellar heaven, and God’s abode after making the perfect final sacrifice.
Old testament tabernacle was but a limited copy of the heavenly reality
Most rulers could not be approached by anyone but their highest advisors
But the Holy Spirit calls for all believers to come with confidence into God’s presence to receive mercy and grace through Jesus / II Corinthians 12: 2-4
Hebrews 8:1-5
Esther 4:11
Hebrews 7:25
2 / The ark of the covenant was viewed as the place on earth where God sat enthroned between the Cherubim / II Kings 19:15; Jeremiah 3:16, 17
3 / Eastern (Oriental) thrones included a footstool / Psalm 132: 7
4 / At the throne of God Christ made atonement for sins- that is where grace is dispensed to believers for all the issues of life / II Corinthians 4:15; 9:8; 12:9; Ephesians 1:7 and 2:7
5 / Grace to you became the standard greeting among believers who celebrated and believed that provision / Romans 1:17; 16:20,24; I Corinthians 1:3; 16:23; II Corinthians 1:2; 13:14; Galatians 1:3; 6:18; Ephesians 1:2;6:24; Philippians 1:2; 4:23; Colossians 1:2; 4:18: I Thessalonians 1:1; 5:28; II Thessalonians 1:2; 3:18; I Timothy 1:2; 6:21; II Timothy 1:2; 4:22; Titus 1:4; 3:15
6 / Here the Hebrews (Jewish) believers are being urged to leave behind the Levitical system and to appropriate the benefits of the New Covenant in Christ
Boldness is an important emphasis in this epistle because of the High Priestly ministry of Christ and His finished sacrifice, we (the Hebrew then being addressed) can enter with confidence into the presence of God. / Hebrews 10:19
7 / Some important points that are found within the 7 verses of Hebrews 10: 19-25
1) Remember you are family (in Christ)
2) Boldly (confidentially) approach God
3) Remember you can do that because of Jesus’ blood
4) We have a new covenant and a living hope provided by Jesus
5) Remember Jesus is the High Priest over God’s house that enables us to come close to God
6) Don’t be fake- have a pure/true heart
7) Fully rely on your faith- You haven’t seen but have faith
8) Our hearts- our inner person has been forever changed; our bodies have been cleaned and should also reflect in our life styles
9) Hold to that hope without ever losing faith in God
10) Because God did promise and you can trust His word completely: He’ll raise you from the dead in the first resurrection, save you and keep you with him forever
11) Don’t forget to remind one another to stir up love and do good things because we know all this
12) Keep coming to church; don’t be like someone who thinks, “I don’t have to actually go to assembly(church). Yes you do
13) Do it more and more because we know the day is coming soon / Hebrews 10: 19-25
