agenda item 2 / AdvanceED update presented by Joe Mikulski (principal)
1.  The district is on its 5 year accreditation cycle
2.  District will be visited by 5-7 member team who will examine that the school board, schools, teachers, students and leadership teams all have a common goal and vision
3.  If a school is chosen, members of SAC, teachers and students will be interviewed by the team
4.  The team will collect data, write a reports and make recommendations as to whether or not the district should receive accreditation.
5.  Mr. Mikulski will bring Data and information to the January meeting
agenda item 3 / PLC (Professional Learning Communities) information presented by Debbie Cox (Assistant Principal for Curriculum) and Linda Sharp (Assistant Principal)
1.  Administrators meet once a month with teachers of tested area classes (English I and 2, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, US History, Biology, CTE, AP, and AICE). The goal is to go over guiding questions to make sure teachers are focused on the standards and following the pacing guide.
2.  Non-tested areas meet once a month on a designated day to go over the guiding questions. Administrators attend when possible.
3.  Curriculum Material Review: Luis Bernal inquired if GC has any teachers on the Social Studies or PE panels that are reviewing new textbooks. Mr. Mikulski said that we have 2 Social Studies teachers and 1 PE teacher on the committees.
agenda item 4 / Fall Activities Update presented by Joe Mikulski (principal)
1.  Band: got straight superiors at their recent competition. They are currently in the process of planning upcoming trips (possibly San Antonio and the Rose Bowl). The Prism contest was amazing; they will be marching in the Naples Christmas Parade on Tuesday, December 6th.
2.  Model UN: Got 1st place at the Georgia Tech competition and 4th place at William and Mary (the top 3 ranked teams in the nation were also competing). They are currently ranked 6th in the nation
3.  Football: District Champs
4.  CC Boys: 12th in state; CC Girls: did well at regionals
5.  Volleyball: District Champs
6.  Swimming: 19 kids went to the state competition with one sophomore girl placing 2nd in diving and a senior boy placing 5th in diving. The team had a strong showing.
7.  Raiders won their recent county tournament
8.  Drama: The Tiburon players put on a wonderful play Up the Down Staircase; the team also got 16 superiors at district, as well as, having the best one act which will open the state competition
open agenda / Review of the 2016 FALL SAC and the PTO-SAC presentations by David Teets (committee member)
1.  The SAC PowerPoint reviewed the guidelines and statutes required by the state for SAC. GCHS is operating within states and all information can be found on the GCHS web site under the School Advisory Council link.
2.  The PTO-SAC slide deck contained information about the District’s strategic plan, STEM vs. STEAM information, FAFSA, and the fall activities booklet handed out to every students.
