RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Prepares and checks cash payment vouchers and journal vouchers in respect of payments arising from the PF liability side for the approval of Head PF Accounts and Payments Section; ensures that payments are properly documented, calculated and coded, and in conformity with the provisions of rules, directives and technical instructions;
  • Checks the applications of withdrawal from retirees credit and the applications of Humanitarian Repayable Withdrawal; reviews and calculates payments in accordance with the relevant instructions and prepares the necessary documentation;
  • Checks lists of PF Liabilities at mid-term and biennium end and drafts Journal Vouchers to record them in the PF accounts;
  • Incorporates the PF data at HRM & Payroll to the finance system to generate the payments;
  • Maintains or supervises the maintenance of proper applications and supporting documents of Humanitarian Repayable Withdrawals;
  • Enters, verifies and retrieves data in the Finance System and follows upon transactions to/from Fields and Headquarters;
  • Answers queries concerning his/her functions, drafts correspondence and prepares reports and statements related to his/her functions;
  • Performs such other duties as may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Academic and Professional
  • A university degree in Administration with Specialization in Accounting or Auditing from a recognized institute.
/ Experience
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in Accounting and Payments examination computerized working environment
Competencies
  • Ability to use various computer applications;
  • Good communication skills.
Language
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of UNRWA’s accounting system and procedures.
  • Membership of an officially recognized accounting body.

  • An internal candidate with a temporary-indefinite or fixed-term appointment selected for this post will retain his/her current contractual status and entitlements in accordance with current letter of appointment and applicable Area Staff Rules.
