USO LAS VEGAS TO HOLD INAUGURAL CHALLENGE A TROOP 5K
Event will feature food, prizes, music, live entertainment, family-friendly festivities and the first local service member 5K competition; all proceeds from race to benefit local military families
WHAT: Challenge a Troop 5K is a 5K Run/Walk benefiting the USO Las Vegas. This race will be a unique opportunity for the community to honor and pay tribute to our local military community in a fun and exciting way. 100% of the race entry proceeds will go to USO Las Vegas to fulfill their mission of lifting the spirits of America’s troops and their families.
WHEN: Saturday, October 31, 2015, 8:00AM to 12:00PM
· 8:00AM: Registration and pre-race festivities
· 8:45AM: National Anthem/ group stretch
· 9:00AM: Military Start, members of the military will start first followed by civilian runners
· 9:30AM: Post race festivities & award ceremony
WHERE: The Start, finish and post race festival will be held at the Central Plaza of the Craig Ranch Regional Park, 628 West Craig Road North Las Vegas, NV 89032.

· Emcee – Ricardo Laguna, professional BMX rider
· TSA Honor Guard to present the colors
· National Anthem – Wendy Coburn from the TSA Honor Guard
· God Bless America– Tommy Ward
· Ceremonies – Louie Anderson, Carrot Top, Cosmo from the Las Vegas 51s, Deputy Drip from the SNWA, Santana (MJ) Jackson, Wonder Woman, Super Girl and Captain America, Mark Shunock and the Cast Members From Rock of Ages.
· Current Miss Nevada, Amanda Gibbons with the team from F45 will be leading the USO 5K Stretch.

· Costume Contest will be held for the most creative costume. The prize for best adult costume will receive a wine/cheese basket and a pair of tickets to the Jersey Boys. The prize for the best 12 and under costume will be a USO kid friendly basket and a pair of tickets to Jeff Civillico.

· Food Vendors, Raising Canes, Kracken Café, Food Junky, among others will offer a great specialized menu for all participants and spectators with a portion of the sales donated to the USO Las Vegas.
· Placement medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in 7 different age groups.
· Complimentary Racer swag bag, t-shirt and finishing medal for all participants.
· Placement medals will also be awarded to the top three male and female military finishers.
· The military unit with the most participating runners will receive a FREE catered lunch from a local Restaurant
· $5,000 in Raffle Prizes whereby 100% of the proceeds will go to the USO Las Vegas.
· Hot Air Ballooning will be offering tethered balloon rides with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the USO Las Vegas.
· Meet and Greet with local firefighters and Q and A with local firefighters

Challenge a Troop 5K Virtual Race
The Challenge a Troop 5K Virtual Race allows runners in different cities or countries, or those with prior time commitments to still participate in support of the cause. The virtual race also attracts those who might consider a 5K unachievable or intimidating to perform in groups. To participate, runners simply print the bib and log their miles. The objective is to participate and all runners receive a finisher medal and custom bib. www.uso5k.org
WHEN: Register by October 31, 2015. Participants have until November 15, 2015 to complete their 5K at which time medals will be shipped to all participants.
WHERE: The 5K can be completed outdoors or indoor on a treadmill or in place, on stairs, or skipping, jumping or lunges. Walk, run or jog it, or even split up the miles over several hours or days, as long as the kilometers are completed by race deadline. Your time and participation goes a long a way in not only Challenging a Troop but Challenging yourself to a physical accomplishment for a GREAT cause.
