Relieving Mathematics Advisor K-6 (2 days per week)

Expressions of interest are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity relieving in the position of Mathematics Advisor K-6 for two days per week from the week beginning Monday 30 January 2017 and concluding on the week ending Friday 22 December 2017. The position with be located at:

The Mathematics Advisor K-6 delivers high quality advice, service and support to schools to enhance the capacity of school leaders and teachers to meet their needs in regards to curriculum delivery.

An expression of interest addressing the criteria, of no more than two pages in length should be submitted to Catherine Thomson, Leader, Primary Curriculum at by 5pm on Friday 23 December 2016.

Statement of duties

§  Providing curriculum policy advice and professional support to Public Schools NSW staff K-6, to support the ongoing implementation of the Mathematics K-10 syllabus.

§  Planning and implementing professional development across the state to support Public Schools in developing mathematics plans.

Selection criteria

§  Teaching qualifications and recent school based experience within the K-12 range.

§  Demonstrated knowledge of the mathematics K-10 syllabus incorporating the Australian Curriculum and its implementation in the K-6 curriculum.

§  Demonstrated capacity to harness technologies to produce innovative mathematics programs and services.

§  Capacity to build the capability of Public Schools NSW staff in the development and implementation of innovative learning programs underpinned by quality teaching, curriculum integration, best practice in assessment and curriculum differentiation.

§  Proven ability to develop teams and work collaboratively within and across teams, and to establish and nurture productive networks.

§  High level written and oral communication, people management and organisational skills.

§  Demonstrated commitment to participating in accreditation processes.

§  Knowledge of and commitment to the department's Aboriginal education policies.

One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal or supervisor for non-school-based staff. Expressions of interest must not exceed 2 A4 pages and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor.
