A. PRIMARY ROLE

The associate business analyst will participate in design, analysis, testing, and production support activities for the development of [reporting center] IT systems. Contribute to the growth and modification of the team by acquiring and maintaining knowledge of new and emerging applications, tools, and architecture that may be used to support these functional operations. Participate on projects by owning small projects or project tasks to enhance mission-critical applications by interpreting client needs and applying these decisions to the design, analysis and testing of application functionality and their user interfaces.

Consult with business users to identify, analyze, refine and document business requirements and processes and develop associated solutions. Effective analytical skills are essential for this position. The business analyst will need to work effectively and establish collegial relationships with counterparts within the project.

B. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

60% Ensure the software requirements properly capture and convey the needs of the users to the delivery team. Work to ensure any derived or discovered requirements are properly documented. Clarify and elaborate on the needs of the users to help the delivery team understand and solve the correct problems. Assist with user experience research and the development of interactive prototypes. Assist with the development of test plans and conducts system/integration testing; can test changes, enhancements, and new programs or functions to ensure they meet business needs. Develop plans to test software by writing test cases. Work with Product Owners to ensure tests are valid and realistic by writing test scripts. Work closely with Product Owners to execute the test cases and documenting the results. [Participate as a member of the agile delivery team. (Optional)]

30% Perform high-level technical and systems analyses, including construction of data models, business use cases, process flows and technical specifications for transition to iterative application development. Establish system requirements through functional and technical assessments of existing software. Consult with product owners and business users to identify, analyze, refine and document business requirements and processes and develop associated solutions. Assist overall project team with refining processes, identifying issues and gaps, and identifying and adhering to best practices for areas such as compliance, security, testing and training. Participate in end user interviews, focus groups, and workshops to establish current and future business requirements. Communicate with module team members; undertake data and information gathering, and conduct detailed and quantitative analysis. Conduct walk-throughs of recommended system functionality and prototypes with business users in small group or large group settings. Ensure uniform documentation presentation and content structure including, but not limited to, online documentation and printable user manuals.

5% Assist in the enforcement of project deadlines and schedules. Work to identify areas of improvement throughout the development process. Actively participate on project discussions to reach consensus on direction, product scope, or common understanding of complex issues.

C. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum education:

Bachelor’s degree in analytic or computer-related field. Combinations of education and experience may be considered
Minimum experience:

Some experience in the business analysis working on complex problems and producing concrete, actionable solutions.


Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Problem solving skills are required. Customer service attitude and willingness to work in a team-oriented environment is required.

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant business and administrative processes. Demonstrated skill with business analysis, requirements gathering, testing, and problem solving skills to take business needs and abstract them into specifications.

Effective time management skills with an ability to deliver consistently high quality work even in the face of changing priorities

D. LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING

The position will make decisions in compliance with established standards and procedures. The specific tasks completed will involve regular reviews by the supervisor. The individual will identify problems and possible solutions and take appropriate action to resolve. The position will have to analyze complex problems for a smaller, defined scope of work and then design a viable solution that meets customers’ requirements.
